modifiers keys and keys typed in multiplayer chat doing dual commands.

So I made this post in general a few days ago but I'm trying to find a solution for myself so I can functionally play the game because I need to use modifiers on my HOTAS to get all the buttons on but unfortunately when you press ctrl+s to use breaks and say you have S on trim it would give both of those commands to the game. None of the other IL2s allow this to happen so I'm trying to figure out a way to do this with a third party app/script or program. a dev response would really be appreciated just to see if you guys actually know this is a problem. additionally when typing in chat in multi it will also activate the keys that you are pressing that you may have set up in options, thanks.

I tested your "ctrl+S on breaks and S on trim" and there is not problem.

In my case, "ctrl+S" only activate breaks without activating trim and "S" only activate trim.

The typing in chat in multi doesn't activate the keys that i am pressing.

 

Your problem probably comes from your HOTAS programmation or configuration.

What is your key to deactivate the hud? Type that one and watch your chat window disappear.

I use "ctrl + W" to deactivate the hud.

Try binding it to only W and then type it. I also use Ctrl+H because of the problem I mentioned.

Did some testing. The commands for Chat („) and Toggle Windows (H) activate when typing. Gear, for example, doesn‘t (G).

So it seems that commands related to info windows still activate when typing, while general commands don‘t.

I think you are right... I use joytokey to change my hotas binds to the keys on the keyboard for the purpose of modifiers and was holding a key on my throttle quadrant which i have set to ctrl and going up on a HAT. when I use the keyboard for those same binds it doesn't do the dual commands. Really tricky not sure what is going on.

"Ctrl+S" press to S too, due how keyboard input rate is coded, and the solution is use a keymapper software, like Joystick Gremlin, XPadder, or proprietary joystick software like T.A.R.G.E.T., CH manager, Saitek SST,that allow put delay between the keys in the combo, like: "Ctrl - await 10 ms - S".

 

The fact that only IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover - Blitz + Desert Wings forum has an "Technical Assistance" section is what cause confusion.

I use joytokey, saitekx52 and this is in cliffs of dover that i have this issue. I have tried to see if there is a time difference using keyboard and joystick testers online and I havent seen any thing that pops out to be the issue but I will try out what you have said might actually work. Thanks!

OK, now is clear, you have problem in CloD using JoyToKey. 

 

JoyToKey don't allow set pause/delay between key press in combos, so cold be the same issue as in Il-2:Great Battles.

 

Do a test with RSMapper, is free and allow can set delays in combos. See if help in your issues, and latter think in use JoystickGremlin because is more powerful, can map axes, create response curves and more.

Just to correct my test from above. G indeed commands the landing gear while typing in chat. So yeah, commands are still active at least in single player when typing in chat, which shouldn‘t be the case, obviously.
