The custom skins not showing after reinstalling game.

Hi all,

I am having trouble with the custom skins not showing in a reinstallation of the game. I have no clue how to get the custom skins to install in the game. The only skins I have currently are the standard/official non-historical skins and defaults. I have really confused myself trying to fix this and very bogged down getting it resolved. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I'll run through an example. I see a nice P51 skin and want to install it. I first download it and put it somewhere easy to find (this is whatever works for you). Usually, the downloaded file will be a zip file of some sort. So, I open the zip up and you'll see a file or files with a file extension of dds eg 352FG_P51D_clean_v2.dds

 

I then move or copy the files to the aircraft folder the skin is for. In my case this is the P51D15. Pic below is after I've moved the file into place.

 

Start the game up and test it is ok by doing a quick mission, choose the plane of interest and then click on the little spanner icon next to the plane and you'll get the mission setup window appear. Click on the word Official and you'll get a list showing Official and Custom. Click Custom.

The heading on the list changes to Custom and you should now see a list of all the custom skins for this plane and the one you just installed should appear in the list somewhere. You can see my just installed P51 skin with the mouse pointer on it below.

 Have you activated the custom skin option within the game?

Yes. That was one of the first things I checked. I think the game files are corrupted somehow. I will uninstall and try again. Hopefully this will be the first step to getting the issue resolved.
