ENGLISH Interview with IL-2 GB team In October 2022

To save forum members further effort, I will shortly be hiring* an infinite number of monkeys with typewriters to make speculative postings about the future of IL-2 GB on our behalf. Infinity working the way it does, we can be certain that an infinite subset of said monkeys will get their predictions right.

 

*I have taken the precaution of consulting a mathematician about this, and am reliably informed that since there are an infinite number of them, and since the total cost of hiring couldn't possibly be higher than infinity, the individual payment to each monkey cannot exceed infinity divided by infinity, which isn't a number, so I won't need to pay them at all..

Except - as with so much of DCS - there is not that many things actually to ‘do’. The 2 aircraft exist in a vacuum. Sadly.

 

So, if not Solomons i would guess:

1. Sicily / Med / Italy

2. Korea

3. EF 1944-45 scenario

4. Something new and exotic like BoF but that would be an awful gamble, Vader. This had better work…

I PM'd one of the devs in regards to the Pacific and long story short the response was that Midway and Coral Sea will not depicted in the game anytime soon: Midway is too boring, Coral Sea is too large (in regards to naval assets).

 

Therefore, if they ever do a Pacific carrier battle or included carriers in a Pacific battle, it would be something AFTER Midway.

Kintaro, “after Midway” would probably mean a very major carrier battle like Leyte Gulf or Philippine Sea, not necessarily jumping all the way to Korean War carrier ops (which would be rather one-sided!!).

 

(CV-47 in your picture above is indeed USS Philippine Sea, incidentally.)

That was much more of a joke SeaSerpent, I perfectly got what Enceladus meant. I was blinking one eye to those who apparently expect a Korean module but, believe me, I'm not among them, I'm much more for a 1940s carrier-vs-carrier battle. Philippin Sea would be great. Yep. Or Leyte, with the first kamikazes, why not. Again, this (aircraft carriers) lead us to what has been said by developers of two companies, 1CGS and TFS, but almost everybody in this forum acts as if one of the two companies never existed. Out of the two, one will be the first to model carriers and their aircraft-related operations. We'll see which one. Time will tell.

OK great were getting Korea, what 10 airplanes as they said it will be prop centric ?  i guess thats 1, 2 or 3 jets, so F-84, F-86 and MiG- 15 are only jets, rest is prop ones. No carriers, no B-29s, Seoul-chan and Ping-pong-yang will not be on map, well have blank rice fields textures there as they said no big urban areas...

Now, seriously: as soon as it comes to talk about future Great Battles series modules and future Dover series add-ons... please guys take into account that none of these two games has reached yet the number of modelled aircraft and modelled maps that has been reached by the first IL-2 Sturmovik game (1946). Thus, in principle, there's no reason that the second generation (Dover series) and third generation (Great Battles series) of IL-2 Sturmovik games go to theatres of operations other than those of WWII. Not by the time being. In my opinion, there are more chances that the right holders of the "IL-2 Sturmovik" brand send their games to the Pacific rather than sending them to Korea or Vietnam.

Going to be rough going back to Yaks after flying the Mustang though.

Only problem with it even if its area betwenn Berlin and Warsaw is what is something new for GB team there, they clearly say next DLC will have something new for them ? Mistels 109s and 190s ?

I'm gonna guess you don't mind eating the same thing for lunch and dinner every single day. Ever heard of variety or is that something unheard of in Europe? Because it seems that way. I like choices and variety, not "choices" that are the same thing just with a new coat of paint. As someone stated before, people like you won't be happy until every variant is here

This quote belongs directly placed on people like you. I personally don't get it, or understand it. Putting some new makeup on a pig doesn't change the fact its still the same pig as before and no amount of makeup will change that. Just like with the million of different Spitfires, 109's and 190's. You're just asking for the same thing over and over again. Change it up. There are other aircraft besides those.  BUT This one has a bubble canopy! So? Its still the exact same aircraft as what we already have in game. BUT IT HAS BUBBLE CANOPY!!!!

I said I'd take any and all of those planes.

That doesn't mean they absolutely have to make all of 'em.

I would just be glad to buy them.

Other planes would definitely do for me too so, no problem for variety.

It doesn't work in this interview. Maybe it takes time for YouTube to process it but the CC were disabled.

Weird, I watched it yesterday and cc in English worked „fine“. Even in 2x speed. But it is quite hard to understand what the auto translation is trying to say lol 
 

What I could understand and that interested me was (at least I think I understood):

-They won‘t rush to announce the next module, they don‘t want pressure building on it. -> Edit: see my post below; pressure was not used as a word, but it was clear it will be announced when it‘s announced from the answer and they don‘t seem to be in a rush, but things continue to be worked on nonstop.

-FR version of the new collector Spit will be available if you select clipped wings (was pointed out here already)

 

Also talked a lot about how hard it is to do all the stuff in the sim, how their work is, how it was in the past, a bit of when Oleg was around…

 

I‘ll wait for the English transcript though.

If that translation is correct, that statement is just bollox... if they didn't want that 'pressure' thrust upon them, then they never would have told us that they had already selected the next module, and where excited about it in that other interview.

Anyone with more than two brain cells know that it takes the best part of a year or more to produce the next GB instalment. They are just playing for time for whatever is going on behind the scenes right now is pretty big stuff, and for my book, letting people know what the next project is would help settle things down.

It was probably me reading (seeing) too much into it. Listen from 28:45. 

 

@ 1:18 someone also asked again with no translatable answer (YT says music in the captions…) but the reaction was similar.

Then @ 1:18:20 someone asked about „Producer“. Couldn‘t really understand the answer. Bit it looks like it will be announced soon. A new producer?
