To me its just upgrades to existing game for all previous DLCs and new ones.

Then why not say so?

I'm no professional marketing strategist, but wouldn't you also assume that a clear "We are going to upgrade the engine, not only for coming modules, but also for the content we already have!" would boost confidence, both for the already existing player base and potential buyers who don't own any BoX module yet?

I simply have a hard time to believe a dev team experienced as these guys would miss this opportunity.

I predict a Ki-61 would really hit a nerve among the Luftwaffe fatigue crowd. Oh no, no, no, we see what you did there, very clever, huh? Trying to disguise yet another 109 as a Zero. Very clever!

You do realize that the Kawasaki Ki-61 was a home grown design and other than the inverted V engine had nothing else in common with the Bf-109, yes?

In fact the Luftwaffe might have been better off with the Ki-61 during the Battle of Britain, as it's longer range could have allowed the German fighters far more loiter time over Britain.

Yes - but if change the physical FM engine you might need different real world data. They never said no data was available but not the necessary. This may change if slightly different data becomes necessary

This is highly speculative. Without real data feedback they only way this to work is  to have such  system which can calulate everything by itself given only  3d shapes and propolusion power. But then how you compare it to reality if you don't have RL test data. Actually this approach is needed if you want have airplane in the game which RL telemetry data is not available or similarities in other airplanes or models which you can derivative upon.

Yes, it was a joke, sir.

This all would be so much easier if we were all sitting in a comfortable place and just speaking to each other in person, wouldn't it?

They don’t seem to plan a new GB module/DLC. It seems to be a new game.

Pls rewatch the interview ?

Of course it’s speculative - I don’t know how they actually work or what exactly they need. Do you?

All I said was: could be that a little peace of information that was crucial before might not be so anymore. Not suggesting they wouldn‘t need any information or something like that.

From the last livestream: They differentiate between GB and their new project. They say there will still be some improvements and collector planes for GB. The fuel system will be there for the new project but might be too much work to integrate into GB.
At which point in the livestream did you get the impression the new major project would be integral part of GB?

I also understood the "let´s make something new"-talk, as a new upcomming IL-2 Title.

But to me, im reading the various comments, relisten to the Interview and despite the language barrier, i see it a bit different and i hope im right on this.

Cause they are talking about bringing new things, mechanics, updates and upgrades with each GB Expansion. And in this case they guys talked about something new for GB as a Series and that the Droptank and fuelsystems are needed for the new upcoming Expansion.

I have not understand it, the way you guys are talking about a new seperate game. It wouldn't make sense to kill GB Series. Except they plan to do something the current engine can't be upgrade to.

I stay with my point that the talk was about a new never been before upgrade to the series and a continuation of GB.

I'm actually watching the interview right now, and quite enjoying it.

I already know I'm not going to find out what the next release is, so I'm just enjoying for what it is. :)

anyways, i am excited for every new patch these days, and eager for all the exciting new tech implemented
they seemed really enthusiastic, and had a really good energy going, loved the whole stream, very direct and honest and even funny
beeing a fan of the GB-series for Years, in terms of flying Warbirds in VR
imho, IL-2 has a solid future looking ahead, there really is no competition
(might install Blitz again, once VR is out of beta and performance in ok)
msfs looks nice from high up and got weather going
dcs is sim-reference, but lacks regarding damage-model/physics
(clickable cockpits are way overrated in VR if not using motioncontrols.. and i love my hotas)
and both are even harder to run online in VR, even with a 12700k and a 3080
IL-2 on the other hand, just runs and feels like silky smooth butter..  yummy

wonder how far back they would go?

One of the best airborne/gliders film ( with real footage...) : Jungle, swamps, no large towns, no tanks ....C47  and gliders....few Japs planes !

Err, hard pass

By the time the ki61 flew in 42 the 109G series was in use with the 605, and the ki was using a copy of the 601Aa that was phasing out by mid 40. If one could time travel to couple of years to the future to grab a plane, it wouldnt be the 61.
