Strange feeling of late...

This, pretty much.

We just got a massive update to the game that ALSO resolved a lot of long standing issues and revived the sim. We're in a pretty damn good place right now.

Can't wait to see what they have in store for us next!

I’ve got to agree with this. I’m not getting the doom and gloom feeling that some have. Jason and his team have proved again and again that they’re on the job. They’ve pulled a lot of surprises on us that they’d kept under their hats until it was ready for release. They haven’t been everything to everyone but but it’s all been far more positives than negatives.

I don’t expect it to but if it should all end tomorrow, I have enough content to last me for years to come.

Battlefield 1946 has more enjoyable gameplay than IL2 Tank Crews....

Some have opined that IL-2 will discontinue IL-2 TC in the future, as the devs are already spread too thin between WWI, WWII aircraft, vehicles and tanks.

Even if many of these products are created by outside teams, the devs are still required to ensure they meet IL-2 standards, and incorporate them into gameplay.

If the company collapses... how are you going to play a game that has to be online to their servers that no longer exist?

SP people even if playing in offline mode, still have to connect to their servers to update the results of their game.

One would hope that there would be a final patch to disable DRM.

One would hope...

The notion that the company must be on the edge of collapse at this point is just... bizarre. Literally just released a major module on team (or will soon, not sure what the timing is), and they've already said in a Q&A that they know what their next module will be.

How we could infer from all this that the sim is ending is just strange, especially since the latest update significantly improved the product.

As far as I'm concerned it's unfortunate they are not doing the PTO next, based on the Q&A, but the reasons stated are quite valid, and I look forward to hearing what they will be working on.

Do we no longer have the ability to login offline and play? In my memory we had access to everything but the campaign mode that needed internet access?

Nobody said the company was on the edge I’d collapse - and it isn’t

We’ll hear from the boys in Russia in due time.

Damned, Jason is gone, Andrey is gone, Han is finally happy and working in Hellish Quart team,  there is no hope for new cool scenario, TC is doomed and they are now shuting down servers....

Obviously busy at work adding blown canopy and delete outer cannons modifications for FW190A-8, among other things FW190 related.

Or not.

Probably not.

It is not hard to imagine what might be happening by simply reading the newspapers.

I really hope we get (some) word from Jason himself real soon, whatever he might have to tell us ... or not !?

BTW if Servers of *any* game dev company ever go 'dead' (like in bankrupcy) then ... that's it for their customers I guess.

Decades ago we had the game on media, but no more.

We could indeed back-up our SSD install, but that's it.

Look at Project Cars 2 and that company sure is still around ... AFAIK you can no longer buy PC2 on steam, even if it has near perfect VR implementation.

We can only hope that 1C "Lives Long and Prospers" !

Well, despite all our misgivings, I'm sure the dev team are sitting back absolutely busting their sides laughing and saying... ''look at this lot... you'll never believe what they've come up with now!''

I would say all you guys in this thread speculating need to just spend some  more time in the awesome update that just got released.

;)

Only thing I would speculate on is what theatre is next...

Well, 99% of the “speculating” here is not meant to be taken seriously, and just some guys having some fun, obviously.  The sense that there is a disturbance in the Force, however, is real.

I just took it upon myself to see when the last time was when there was a huge gap in communications from the Devs (specifically DDs), and lo and behold, just after the release of BoBP there was a 2 month gap between DDs. So is there anything wrong? I think it's too early to tell. If in a month or so we still haven't heard anything, that's when I start to worry.

The Steam release announcement was also a very juicy update and that was less than a week ago.

Absolutely! And I want it!

So... strange feeling of... nothing! truebelievers in '46 still have hours of fun after more than 20 years of fun. Same thing with the Great Battles series and/or the Dover series: if the right holders drop the business, they'll keep residual income and we'll keep our simulators all the same...

Believe me fellas, years of fun are still before us...

I do think the devs realize IL-2 needs to change course a bit, but overall Normandy is an insane hit with more updates to come. I am very happy with the current state of the game, but do realize some changes and updates need to be made. Jason being MIA is a bit odd, but you guys are really over-reacting.

Hey, I’m just wishing they’ll eventually let me change my avatar from Chief Brody to a cat, like many other people’s avatars on this forum.  I suffer from avatar-envy.

All that is happening, is happening because the P-47 was given a survivable damage model. This is in defiance of the decree by the illuminati that all P-47s in all video games shall forever suck.

I'm more interested in this type of flying lately...I care less about shooting things and just want compelling flight and to complete a task.

This aircraft with the Normandy map will be excellent I think.

I think you’re just an old b***tard, Gambit, and simply don’t have the grit to fly a virtual fighter plane anymore…

...not until it's a Corsair, or a Zero...or an F-4. Until then I'm soley about logistics.

My god, no wonder they've gone quiet! This is exactly what I do to my kids when they argue amongst themselves and piss me off... Close myself in my room, plug in and shoot down some jerries ?

These devs are evidently allergic to all things Pacific....but there may be hope from the CloD/Tobruk team:

Interesting, however in the flight sim development world "soon" can be a few months to many, many months.

"Not in our immediate future" can mean an untold number of years.

Still, interesting.

Afterall, we've got a dance party going.

How could one be worried?
