Strange feeling of late...

There's a strange kind of feeling running through the forums of late. It seems like...

I feel you.

I really hope that Jason and the team will give us an update on what is (not) coming next. There are times you are better off not knowing, but the radio silence combined with people coming up with (some pretty wild) speculations is getting quite tiring.

As a hungarian tourist in london would say, 'my nipples are exploding with delight!'

I hope we find out soon what the plans are. Plenty of exciting possibilities!

Italy? Bagration? Leningrad?

I know what my bet for the future of this franchise is but I'll keep it to myself as it will likely upset folks . . . . I hope I'm wrong.

We have a normal communication in the betatest forums with the developers, nothing changed.

They are working hard on the next patch.

Well that's good to hear... which developers are you in normal communication with?

29th September: We have incoming a massive update covering multiple elements for the module that we just released after 2 years work.

5 days later….

Could we let them finish the module first?

Then by all means, we can get the tin foil out and make some nice hats.

I'll even bring the fixings for some nice sandwiches.

To be fair, the module is finished with the release of 5.001. They are making some small tweaks to tiny details of the map and then adding DVD and prop effects which are not part of the BON module, they affect all modules.

Obviously they are going to continue developing FC2, and all the collector vehicles and planes, but there has been radio silence about everything else.

It's too early for conspiracy theories, and i don't recall how quiet it got between BOBP and BON announcement anymore. Hopefully we hear about it soon. They already communicated they have selected the next project, so the answer is not "we are shutting down".

Andrei leaving is sad, but every company has churn including ED, Gajin, Asobo, and there is no need to lose our minds.

Like you said you’re new so you lack any point of reference…but FYI nobody is “freaking out” ;)

Most of this player base is too old to do “freaking” of any kind.

Steps to fix (IMHO):

1) Drop Tank Crews.  Pointless product with better competitor products on the market.  After the Churchil of course as people have paid for that, including me.  Regrets abound.

2) Pause drop tanks.  Pointless in multiplayer currently and there are more important things to fix.  Yes some career flights are impossible but there are plenty of career modes that are working.

3) Enhance BoN map

4) Fix WW1 flight and damage models.  Made worse by BoN changes, which was supposed to 'across the board' enhancements.  This actually translates to 'ww2 specific' enhancements.

5) Release FC2 map and career mode.

6) Pick up drop tanks again

7) Enhance AI

? Next BoX

That's my opinion.  Classic product delivery team issue of promising too much and spreading themselves too thin.

Flame me.  Just like Ricky Gervais at the Golden Globes 2020 ceremony, I don't care.  Until 3, 4 and 5 are done I'm not playing anymore and am instead just keyboard warrioring on the forums. Oorah.

Post Scriptum...Hell Let Loose...War Thunder...ARMA III (with WWII mods)...Steel Fury

I can guarantee you there are more players in each of these games in a single day than are playing "Tank Crew" in a weeks time, especially Post Scriptum and Hell Let Loose. "Tank Crew" is extremely bare bones to what is already out on the market.  It should've been a completely separate game not tied to IL2.

I have a strange feeling that even things in the world, even beyond this forum, are not quite what they used to be.

If I enjoyed lying to myself, I would say that it has no effect to this game.

Battlefield 1946 has more enjoyable gameplay than IL2 Tank Crews....

all fo these games you listed are arcade games (only steel fury is good but its outdated now), sorry not interested. TC is promising if they put some love and resources into it.

Arma isn't an arcade game.

I look at it like this.  When I drive around tanks its kewl and stuff, until I come up to a bridge that looks like it's from MS FSX.  No gradient to the road, just some nice, harsh angles.  And the buildings look naff and dont display to tank shell damage.  And the AI is shocking.

It isn't great, by any stretch.  To be enjoyable there are ground-based interactions and accuracies that need to be there to make it enjoyable, and implementing those will take resources away from what the game is meant to be - a combat flight simulator! A CFS with serveral large issues.  In the sky, in flight, you dont see these ground based issues so much.

I dont think the tank stuff is done by the aircraft team

Though some maintain the fm of the P47 was designed by the tank team……..

One issue, perceived or real, however is that TC and FC may currently be leaching development money off the ww2 stuff to fund said other parties in their endeavours.

Model might not be but QA? Project/Product Management? Might be.  Who knows what their structure is.

only 3d model is made by 3d party, rest is work of the team imo.

Irrelevant. In the grand scheme of things, the mass majority of customers have already spoken.  Tank Crew is a dud.  The customers it needs are already off playing better dedicated ground combat games.

This, pretty much.

We just got a massive update to the game that ALSO resolved a lot of long standing issues and revived the sim. We're in a pretty damn good place right now.

Can't wait to see what they have in store for us next!

I think if Tank Crew had sold poorly we wouldn't have these collector tanks in the first place, like how FC2 and 3 have been funded by how many people bought 1
