Battle of Moscow pilot career seems not to have escort missions.

BOM on soviet side seems not to offer escort missions anymore, either escorting bombers or attackers. I'm currently in march 1942 with I-16s and Mig-3s at Klin, an airfield that's far from Pe-2s or Il-2s airfields, so I started 2 new careers to confirm this. From the 1st day and commander from the start, I-16s and Mig-3s each one and out of Rzhev, which is close to a bomber airfield and gave escort missions before. Quicky went through the 1st fase not flying myself and sending AI flights, multiple days until the airfield transfer, no escort missions on either airplane career.

 

Seems to have started with the last update, but it could have been happening earlier, $#it memory from my part.

 

I haven't tested german side or other fronts. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes, those units from those airfields don't have escort missions any more at the moment, because of the distances involved to the frontlines. Besides that, most of the time in 1941/early 1942 Soviet bombers and Il-2s didn't have fighter escort. That was due to a chronic lack of fighters at the front.

Thanks, I guess this is a very good example of 'be careful what you wish for'. I asked about historical accuracy in another thread and got what I didn't want.?

 

I know that devs are with their hands more than full, but could we have an option for 'less historical accuracy and more gameplay'?

 

I know it's frustrating that every player wants something different. I've seen the "I don't want to get bounced every time I go on bombing missions, it's not historical"  vs  "Nothing happens in most cover missions, I want more action" discussions, so giving this option would satisfy both sides.

 

Just for my particular case, when we start a soviet career at Rzhev, either with Mig-3s or I-16s (34th or 495th), there's an airfield nearby that altough it's not player selectable has both IL-2s an Pe-2s and gave escort missions before this last update. Even I-16s could be given escort missions for shorter range missions.

 

 

 

After the transfer to Vlasyevo (I-16s) or Vnukovo (Mig-3s) it was the same thing, both airbases have IL-2s or Pe-2s and gave escort missions before.

 

Please consider a 'more gameplay and less historical accuracy' option for those of us that want it.
