Great. There are very few things that entice me to travel, but before I die, I hope one day to spend a few nights watching it.

Amazing images. Thank  you!

I was expecting aurora photos in the last two days, but not here on the forum. :salute:

Two days ago we got hit by an X1.0 solar flare. The flare generated a strong Earth directed coronal mass ejection. That hit our magnetic field pretty hard, so cool light show was expected in the northern regions.

There's still a high chance of more X class flares in the next few days, so keep an eye for more cool light show.

I remember being in Canada on exercise years ago doing a night firing live battle... suddenly we were told to stop, clear guns and the whole battle group just sat there looking at a scene just like that... magical when you see it in real life.

Ditto, but for us it was northern Norway.

The Haeren had an OP overlooking the valley of the river …….  on the border with the Soviet Union. There was no pollution, the air was completely clear. We had some very big binoculars and you could watch the group of rag and bone men that was the Red Army going through their morning ablutions some 10km away.
The night sky was astonishing anyway but if you got lucky and the aurora kicked off; simply astounding….

Really really nice and I hope I will se one one day until I die, unfortunately my girlfriend is interested in Italian language and culture.

Pfff Italia, West coast of Norway(mainly Stavanger) is where the beauty of language is represented and of course Iceland (Best language in the world).

Yes it was so powerful that we could not have a long shutter. Shutter was set to normal daylight photo.
next coming years sun activity is going to be very intense. So I think it going to be golden age for Aurora

Beautiful!

I was lucky enough to be able to work in northern Ontario and the Yukon Territories (Canada) for six years so this shot brings back some wonderful memories of my years there. It is a magical place in many ways.

Thanks for sharing Lusekofte.
