P-47s - Raid on Fort du Roule

Hello everyone,

 

Here is a short mission of the June 25, 1944 attack on Fort du Roule near Cherbourg. I was pleased to see the level of detail of the fort on the new Normandy map, and always wanted to make this mission before it released. Enjoy!

VII Corps of the US Army has been pushing north for the past two weeks and is now at the doorstep of the city Cherbourg. The Germans have set up a series of strongpoints throughout the Contentin Peninsula which has required coordinated artillery and air attacks before our ground forces can move forward. 79th Division is commencing an attack on the strongpoint Fort du Roule this morning, and 9th Air Force is sending a squadron of P-47s to attack defensive positions around the fort. Fort du Roule is situated on a hill on the southern side of Cherbourg.

 

Expect it to be defended by flak pits surrounding the fort besides flak nested inside the city. Destroy as many flak pits, bunkers, and vehicles in and around the fort before moving on.
