Normandy DLC Steam price is wrong for my country (imho)

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hello,

I know it's the newest and a great DLC but I think new Normandy DLC seems wrongly priced for my country (TURKEY - Turkish Liras).

BOS : 179 TL

BOK : 179 TL

BOM : 179 TL

BOB : 289 TL

BON : 1099 TL

AR234 : 359 TL

Spit XIV : 359 TL

Circus : 459 TL

In Turkey, minimum wage is about 5200 TL and sadly we cant afford these prices, even on big sales.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards.

I'm so sorry for not knowing how this complaints section works cause I don't want do something wrong or appear to be rude.

Yesterday, a notification ("Your topic was approved: Normandy DLC...") came for my complaint.

Should I do something or should I take an action about this complaint?

No your topic was simply moved from the General thread to the Complaints thread. You or anyone can now discuss it here.

Sorry but I didn't fully understand what you said CountZero; is it normal to have 3 times the price difference between BOB and BON? Or is it normal to have 2 times between BOK and AR234?

Currently the UK price for BON is 1098 TL. (Full price)

BOB: 828 TL. (Full price).

If there is a sale, then BOB will drop much more than BON.

Also, there is some other point of view:

CURRENCY:             BOB:        BON:       PRICE DIFF:

BRITISH POUND    39.99        52.99        x1.32

CHINESE YUAN     349           419            x1.2

EURO                      46.99       59.99         x1.27

RUSSIAN RUBLE    2999        2999         x1

US DOLLAR            49.99       59.99        x1.2

TURKISH LIRA         289          1099            x3.8

Yes buddies, this is the point I object to...

I'm not complaining about game price versus my salary or country's national wealth.

I'm complaining for x3.8 price difference with other DLCs. That is why I think there is something wrong about Normandy DLC price.

But the prices for the other modules in Turkish lira are a lot lower than their equivalent in other currencies. In effect you are complaining that you are paying too little for them.

the only constant is the price of Bon.  It appears the publishers have made some attempt to adjust prices for the wages in your country on older products. That’s where the differential is.

It may seem like that at first. 1099 Turkish Liras may be too little for your country, but not for us. This is way too different topic.

I would like to give you some examples from other game prices:

Rdr 2: 299 TL

MS Flight Sim GOTY: 349 TL

X Plane 12: 275 TL

Ace Combat 7: 199 TL

God Of War: 329 TL

Assetto Corsa Comp.: 199 TL

Before Steam, Turkish people wouldn't BUY games. They would DOWNLOAD games. But after Steam price policy, we all can allocate money for games and we buy games. Maybe this is too little for a developer money income, but instead of harming developers, we at least get a coffee for them.

I understand what you are saying but equally all those games are now quite old aren’t they? In the U.K.rdr2 and god of war are both substantially cheaper than at launch.

Can you remember what BOBP was at launch? I guess that would give an indication of if things have changed.

Of course my examples are not up to date games. But at least they are AAA games and I think you can buy their new DLCs cheaper either. For example, ACC base game 199 TL, newest DLC is 160 TL. I think this price make sense more for me. Also God Of War released at January 2022 for PC.

I don't know developer's store price but I'm talking about Steam prices; BOBP price seems to have never changed (based SteamDB price history). But developers made -66% discont after a while.

I hope I get a chance to get BON like you mentioned after some time passed.

The store price equates to what stream is asking I think. You have my sympathy. I’m lucky (this week at least) to have a relatively decent exchange rate and living wage.

I did some rough workings out based on average wages and it’s the equivalent of the game being £200-£250  here in the U.K not the £60-£80 its sold at.

I hope it resolves for you.

Thank you for your interest and good wishes BOO, you are so kind too!

I hope developers get better positions on game market and get where they deserve. Since IL-2 Pacific Fighters (as a fan, because I met the series at that time), all of the IL-2 series is a must for a sim player.

At the same time, we, as players for all countries, see quality and affordable productions.

A quick check of Lira to Canadian dollars right now, shows that your price of 1099 TL is cheaper then what BoN is on Steam for me in Canada. Only by a dollar, but cheaper non the less. The pricing appears to be approximately equal, factoring in conversion.

I guess you're asking the devs to subsidize the price of BoN so you may afford it?

With patience, it too will go on sale one day when it's an older product.

Hi Syphen, yes you are true. I'm asking that because, in our country minimum wage is about 8000 TL nowadays. So BON dlc is about more than 12% percent of the minimum wage.

In fact, the money we can give to games is very worthless for advanced countries. Before Steam, Turkish people wouldn't BUY games. They would DOWNLOAD games. But after thanks to Steam price policy, we all can allocate money for games and we buy games. Maybe this is too little for a developer money income, but instead of harming developers, we at least get a coffee and expand community for them.
