Hi DD_Arthur, are you referring to the Tencent purchase of 1C Entertainment? Do you think this will affect our IL-2 games, either '46, Dover or Great Battles?

1CGS is a partnership of 1C and 777 and nothing to do with 1C entertainment.

Arthur is referring to a much more globally significant event that is likley to have increasingly problematic consequences for 1C and its international arrangments and professional relationships as time goes on.

For the team going forward I guess the big question is who funds things? We hear from Jason on certain occasions how they have to deliver to some timescale to retain their income so that implies not everything comes from the customer base, where from then this subsidy?

Irrespective of where our particular sim is registered the fact that this is a relationship between Jason's 777 industries and 1C could at the present time of challenging global realities make funding awkward as the 1C brand is and forever will be associated with Moscow.

I guess the team know where they want to go with the sim next, however, it is who helps fund that development I think is very unclear right now be it from one side or another we are stuck with real world issues that will make funding anything right now problematic.

Essentially, Jason is probably unable to announce anything yet hence his absence, low profile, call it what you wish.

This week we have heard some things of the next update tied in with the Steam release so that takes care of the usual DD Jason would have done/might have done, I figure, other than that there are still things to make and release so there will be no immediate hurry to announce where next especially if the team is not clear when or if there is a next in the current environment.

Just be happy there are still updates, for now at least.

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete.

Don‘t think it‘s that bad. After two years BoN is finally out. He‘ll be back in a few days or a couple of weeks I‘m sure.

I wasn't referring to Jason, I was thinking more of the company as a whole... let's face it, we have just come through over 2 years of covid and all that entails. Plus the current world situation and drama unfolding daily... we have the cost of living crisis going up and up.

There can't be anyone here that hasn't wondered if all of this can continue, unless they have their heads in a hole in the sand... I'm amazed actually that the gaming companies we all follow (not just this one) have managed to survive so far.

A good friend of mine is the MD of a board game and jigsaw puzzle making company. They are a company that sells world wide.

Before April 2020, ninety percent of their sales income was in the period October/November/December.

After April 2020 every month has been Christmas as far as their sales are concerned. The world has learnt to live and amuse themselves indoors. The PC/console sales sector has boomed like never before.

Many "hobby" related businesses are booming.  I work on vintage and classic cars, and that arena has exploded since COVID.  I have more work than I can handle really.

My wife and I never did anything different, but she does enjoy a good jigsaw puzzle...with me.

So while I'm not a huge fan of this activity, I do so now and then to make her happy. In fact it's a been a while so I'm due for some puzzle time.

She's more of a get out and go camping girl though, so that's what we were doing.

...but I definitely feel a puzzle session coming.

To DD_Arthur, BlitzPig_EL and Gambit21:

For our hobby (let's call it "serious simulation") it is fruitless to expect good things from the COVID lockdowns... if every person under self-isolation ends up by playing arcades like "War Thunder", "Ace Combat" or "World of Warplanes". I am reassured about the close future of our hobby but not necessarily because of the survival of the companies. At some point, if all the serious simulation related companies end up by disappearing... we should be able to reach arrangements with the right holders, same as it is being done with the '46 simulator which is the first generation of IL-2 games. Also, Team Fusion did survive as a bunch of enthusiasts (not yet a company at the time) before they became an officially formed company. So, if TFS and Jason were forced to close up shop... there still would be the possibility of reach agreements with the right holders (well... I hope so...).

I’m (nearly) convinced that Mr. Smith is Jason’s alter ego, and Smith has been quite active lately.

Hmmm...who IS Mr. Smith? What is his real name?

What are his hobbies? His dreams? Does he enjoy kayaking? Gardening? A good burger?

Hi BOO, I just learned that three monts ago, on the 30th of June, 2022, "1C Entertainment" has been renamed as "Fulqrum Games", apparently in connection with "Fulqrum Publishing Ltd", that latter maybe also created for the occasion. Please see the official annoncement here (and the name "Fulqrum Publishing Ltd" at the foot of the page):

The Daedalos Team, the modders of IL2-1946, uses the official forums at Fulqrum instead of the '46 forum here in il2sturmovik.com... why is that?

Thank you BOO. You posted first but I wanted to edit my former message... as follows:

EDIT : I'm simply noticing now that the Fulqrum forum is nothing but the old good bananas forum... they have sections not only for Daedalos Team but also for the classic "IL-2: 1946" game (oldest post: 2007), "Birds of Prey" (oldest post: 2008) and "Cliffs of Dover" (oldest post: 2011). Apparently they don't have any section for the "Great Battles" series.

How much "official" are these forums in the Fulqrum company? Are they... "more" or "less" official than the forums we have here for "IL-2 1946" and "Cliffs of Dover" ?

I must admit I don't get it...

Just put it down to noone giving a poop about 1946 anymore. The forum got nothing more than a header and footer change.

My reading is that the official forum for all IL-2-branded products is here ('46, Dover and GB), and that the bananas forum is simply keeping old threads from a time when... 1C Entertainment held rights on the IL-2 Sturmovik brand? Is this correct?

Id say so.

Thank you BOO. After further research I just read in Wikipedia that... "In May 2005, 1C bought Cenega Publishing, a Prague-based publisher and distributor. This arm was rebranded 1C Publishing EU in May 2007. 1C Publishing EU uses the trade name 1C Entertainment since late 2018".

As a logical consequence we can conclude that "1C Entertainment" never owned the "IL-2 Sturmovik" brand. My assumption is that Oleg Maddox created the brand approximately by 1999 and that later he sold it to 1C... or maybe the "IL-2 Sturmovik" brand was created by 1C Company as of 1999 so that, in agreement with Oleg Maddox, the original game is released under such name.

At any rate, I'm pretty sure now that only 1C company currently possesses the brand name "IL-2 Sturmovik".

I'd say even more: all of this is fascinating... but doesn't give us a clue of where is Jason now! AND WE NEED TO KNOW! LoL

I think with the various threads that have been going over the last few days, I'd be less worried where Jason is than is the ship sinking... some ships sink very quickly once they start to list... other ships take a long time to sink, but they eventually sink... but then again, some ships look like they are doomed, but manage to right themselves and carry on with a glorious career...  :coffee:
