Where is Jason?

I reckon there were differing opinions on the next theatre. Perhaps the Russian team wanted another eastern front scenario.

I’m out btw if it’s back to the east for the next pack. Very little interest.

I think the more relevant question is why does it matter?   He's either moved on to another station, or he's ghosting you all.

He's not ghosting us. What are we, Taylor Swift and he's Joe Jonas?

If he can't talk to us, it's likely for two reasons:

1) He's under some kind of contractual obligation (which I would find odd/implausible).

2) He's in Italy doing plane research and doesn't want to drop any hints that would spoil the next DLC's location. Yeah, wishful thinking, but it's a 0.002% possibility.

If he won't talk to us, but is otherwise legally able to talk, then I'unno. But I doubt he collectively despised everybody so much that it would stop him from saying a word. If anything, he was somehow forced out of his position and is maybe too bitter (understandably) to want to say anything at all.

Or, he's currently involved in negotiations regarding e.g. financing for the next module, and doesn't want to break any news before it's done as that might possibly hurt the negotiations. Best way to make sure you don't say any wrong things is to not say anything.

Maybe his plane crashed in the Andies with his staff, and they are now drawing short straws to see who must be eaten, so that the rest may live.

My guess it is highly likely there is something going on internally that he just can not comment on at this time.

If there are any positional changes at 1CGS my guess is it would be announced with the announcement of the next theatre to be developed.

Could be there are a lot of moving parts to the above and they just have not all come together yet.

Or more likely, I am full of crap...

Yeah. I would guess that the financial maneuvering for the next module is somehow affected by 'global events'. The last time funding had to be secured for Normandy, well, things were much simpler all around.

No, I think you have it essentially correct.

It would seem likely Jason is no longer series producer.

Since Jason owns 777 Studios and that entity has some holding in 1CGS it would seem whatever is going on is ‘complicated’.

Given that he seemed fully invested (in spirit, I mean) right up to the end, I must assume he's not leaving by choice. We can also infer by his seemingly normal communication up until mid-August, that any events resulting in his departure occurred rather quickly. We can further speculate that if the departure was planned ahead of time (i.e, he wanted to leave), he would be willing and able to tell us himself.

So then we're left to wonder who wanted him out, why, and how it was accomplished.

I guess best case scenario, he could go on to start his own sim that would focus entirely on the Pacific. Since it's still a huge gap in the entire sim industry, even if it takes him years to build up another company, no one is likely to have filled that void in the meantime. That's just about the only good that could come from this.

Well Jason does have a bad habit of posting his rather annoying little puzzles before any major announcement, maybe this is some kind of insideous version of that, he goes dark for some time to get everyone talking and guessing and all of a sudden, bam, he pops up from nowhere and pokes you in the eye and slaps you around the cheeks and laughs out loud.

I still think it is all a little spooky though, I'm getting worried for him, his mental health might have suffered from years of listening to our whinning.;)

Come back Jason, all is forgiven, sort of.:drinks:

Take care and be safe.:bye:

Wishing you all the very best, Pete.

I was firmly in the “he’s taking some much-needed vacation” camp a few weeks ago, but this now has many of the hallmarks of a corporate shakeup. A major stakeholder goes silent despite still being present (usually a sign of an NDA); official statements that information is “forthcoming”; cryptic references by staff to “paths” moving forward. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time that this has happened in the current environment.

That would be really bad PR under the circumstances if this were just a practical joke.

I agree that an NDA of some sorts is currently the most likely reason for his continued silence. I'm just still not sure there's anything malicious about it. Jason's absence coincides perfectly with the release of BoN (with only the September 30 "pleasure working with you Lemsip" post as an outlier). After the release of a module is probably the time when some of the hardest negotiations take place to obtain funding etc. for the next module, as well as finalize the list of things that will be included in the next module, which in turn can impact funding. Especially with world politics the way they are, I can imagine a couple of (voluntary or contractual) NDAs in place.

I thought we were supposed to have a translated summary of the announced podcast.  Did it even take place?

So, we have had several modules now, and strangely, Jason has never disappeared without a word... so, logically?

Yes, strange... Did anyone in this forum actually have a look in to get any ideas?... Normally, if something of importance comes to light in the Russian forums, somebody has always got the gist of it over here pretty fast.

Maybe they’re sitting around chewing off their fingernails, wondering “how in the world are we going to break this news to our customers..”

True, so maybe the podcast just revealed nothing at all of interest. (I’d still think a multilingual speaker would say that though too)

But this time there's a war on, so I wouldn't be surprised if that makes negotiations a tad more... sensitive.

From the russian forum, autotranslated with google.

There are multiple ways to interpret it but to me "he has not gone anywhere" sounds like he is still involved in the project.

This reminds me of a situation I observed a few years ago. A game was being developed in which the leadership (in charge of story/design) was fired by the publisher in the middle of the project. For obvious reasons, the fired people couldn't disclose details, but they could (and did) give public statements. Said statements didn't reveal much, but they could at least say 'wow, I wasn't expecting to get fired in the middle of a game's development', etc.

So, what's puzzling to me in this case is, I can't imagine any kind of NDA that would prevent Jason from saying anything. That's what strikes me as improbable.

I wager that he can speak. Talk about football, the weather, whatever. But he doesn't want to. Maybe it'd piss him off too much to try to act like it was business as usual, when in reality he doesn't like how things transpired.

Pure speculation on my part, but that's the only reason I can see for it.

Most accurate answer is that hes in Museo Storico dell'Aeronautica in Vigna di Valle and getting data and pictures on SM.79, Re.2002, MC.205 and G.55

I guess reading all this is entertaining, but it seems to be at one person’s expense.

How we treat each other online is sometimes a little different than whats expected in real life.  I met Jason once in Las Vegas during a trade show and he set me up to try out a VR headset for the first time.  After seeing everyone joust online with him, I was caught off guard by how kind he was to me and generous with his time.

He has contributed greatly to this community and if he has been pushed out in some manner, I thank him for everything he has done and wish him all the best in any new ventures that lie ahead.

Tell that to everyone else who theorized during the last 11 pages?

I tried to say nothing was wrong until it became inescapable that something was indeed off.

I never made any kind of negative assumptions about what type of person he was, based on how he talked here. Everybody gets peeved and dickish here. Something in the air, I guess.

When he'd go off on somebody and be a little brusque, 9 times out of 10 they had it coming. The other 1 time you can chalk up to stress, whatever.

Text and real life are very different,

I don't think he's being intentionally mean to anyone, I like the guy. I know I'm not his favorite. Hopefully I can change that one day. :gamer:

He just wants everyone to have a good time with the product.
