RyanR Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 I'd been living in BoBP and BoN since a lot of the major updates came out. I recently picked up a career that stopped at BoM, and decided to hop into BoS.... it's like a whole other sim. The clouds are new and tuned, there are new mission types, damage model, even the environment's colors are a bit different etc, etc. It's absolutely striking how good it looks. It's also a bit of a shock to leave behind the posh Allied airfields in the Springtime English countryside for the rudimentary fields around Stalingrad in Fall. -Ryan 2 1
percydanvers Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 I’ve been thinking of going all the way back to Moscow to start a new mega career for the very same reason
I./JG52_Woutwocampe Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 Yep, it definately improved. On several aspects. Its still a w.i.p but certainely going in the right direction. 1
jg123410 Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 (edited) Just jumping in to say I have experienced the same thing. I started a new BOM career after the 5.001 patch and it seemed much better IMHO. The AI in dogfighting and the different plane performance/characteristics also seemed different than the BOM career I was playing a year ago. Thanks!!!! Edited September 28, 2022 by jg123410
RyanR Posted September 28, 2022 Author Posted September 28, 2022 I think the .303's and other small caliber MG's have a bit more bite with the new damage model. I was foolishly toying with a Hurricane with a 109G-2, and he got some shots in with the .303's. I got some crippling damage (fuel and coolant) and had to bail 10 minutes later. I felt a bit foolish about it, but I also was pleased to see that kind of damage. I F2'd to take a look at the Hurricane, and I'm pretty sure that was 8x .303's and not the UB/ShVAK combo. -Ryan

Guster Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 The outskirts of Moscow look absolutely stunning with the new clouds, and a 109 F-2 vs MiG-3 skirmish has never been more entertaining.
PaladinX Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 Why are they awesome now? Can you control the wingmen, now? Can you radio with ground now? can you skip waypoints during flight now?
Zeev Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 (edited) The title is misleading, career is not a campaign. Maybe I am doing something wrong, but I could not see any of the last year major features in my game: 1. New clouds 2. Rough terrain 3. Being able to place letters and numbers on the plane skin This game needs a documentation. I am not a new person to computers, software or video games. I am using personal computers since 1993 but yet I am really struggling to understand how to activate and experience the mentioned features above despite the fact that I am trying to be up to date with the game news on a weekly basis and read 95% of dev updates. The game does have official documentation, as of 4.702c. It's a lot of work to maintain a manual for a product of this complexity. Being able to place letters and numbers on the plane skin Those first two items have been in the game for ages (and so are described in the manual), so there's nothing special you have to do to see them in the game. Vehicle and plane codes are still a new feature and so aren't in the manual yet. That said, they are added on the same screen where you customize everything else on your plane.

If your menus are complex then you are doing something wrong. Hire UX UI proffesional. By the way, can we stop with the broken record of "every feature of this game is too complex to fix\enhance it"? please? Edited September 30, 2022 by Zeev

On the other end, I did some "testing" in the QMB: quick duel in a 109G-2 vs a P-40. Only used the the 109's 7.62mm's, and was able to shoot the P-40 down (pilot kill). Not easily done, but I didn't fill the plane with lead either. That would have never ever happened prior to this release with the new DM. This is really encouraging. I'm afraid to run into an I-16 with the ShKAS now. -Ryan
