CrazyhorseB34 Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 The book The 357th Over Europe page 65, by Merle Olmstead, has a war time quote from Maj. Leonard K. "Kit" Carson. " We don't use tracer ammunition. It gives a false illusion of distance and direction. But when the steel cores of your .50 caliber ammunition hit the target, they strike sparks, which appear as winking lights, and you know you are scoring." Now you can be like the top scoring ace of the 357th Fighter Group by using this simple mod. M2 mod NO TRACERS 5.001.rar 1 2
Hopper64 Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 Great idea. Does this mod also produce the sparks on the target as described? Thanks!

CrazyhorseB34 Posted September 25, 2022 Author Posted September 25, 2022 The only problem is it removes all the .50 tracers too include AI such as friendly AAA. Too get around that, delete the folder "ammunitionfornpc," in the mod. data/LuaScripts/worldobjects/ballistics/ammunitionfornpc But keep "projectiles" folder in "ballistics."

There's a mod called 'More Hitflash smaller calibre guns' which is pretty cool. I'm not sure if/or to what degree it would work with the no tracers mod. I think it's worth a try though. I'm using the hitflash mod and it's not over the top or anything, it's very safisfying.
Hopper64 Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Still using this mod myself. I wondered about the Bf109 tracers. Noticed a lot of tracer fire from this particular plane. Is that accurate historically? Did the German fighters have tracers like that? Thanks.
