taffy2jeffmorgan Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 I All, not sure if this has been posted in the past, but is there a chance that self-sealing fuel tanks will be fitter to most allied and axis aircraft seeing that we are approaching the final years of the war. Cheers
Supercharger Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 In my opinion, we already have self sealing fuel tanks..... what do you mean exactly?
taffy2jeffmorgan Posted September 26, 2022 Author Posted September 26, 2022 Well, that light green plomb that is seen flowing from either one or both wings after a hit. because if its glycol it never seems to affect the running of a liquid cooled engine, certainly not in my case
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted September 26, 2022 Posted September 26, 2022 (edited) Glycol as it's coolant in the game is white when leaking. Green is fuel and self sealing is implemented as far as I know. You will have leakage from tank if hole is big enough. Edited September 26, 2022 by 1PL-Husar-1Esk
I./JG52_Woutwocampe Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 Wait, I dont think self sealing tanks exist in GB's?! I thought this would be implemented with the new fuel system eventually?
Supercharger Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 (edited) In my experience, the loss of fuel after a hit is more or less nothing, except your bird looks like a Swiss cheese. My understanding is the self sealing tanks are already implemented. 1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 (edited) For sure self sealing is taken into account , but how accurate or sophisticated is this modeled I don't know. Work made with drop tanks could bring more accurate modeling to this future. I don't remember if leakage in only one tank still could drain all fuel tanks. With drop tanks there were plans to implement advanced fuel tanks management so you could force to use fuel from draining tank. As it is addintinal workload for players I doubt it would be implemented as a must, maybe just manual overdrive if someone like to do it. This drop tanks future were developed by member who left and it's taking very long to finish. They didn't implemented DVD into all planes yet so this future might be dropped or cut down to minimum. taffy2jeffmorgan Posted September 27, 2022 Author Posted September 27, 2022 So can we take it that somewhere down the track the Devs have already implemented self-sealing fuel tanks which are only able to sustain limited damage before losing their contents ?
