GRehalkov Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Hi, just viewed those two new vids on youtube (trailer and making of video), and have to say it´s great and interesting. But on the second one it is very remarkably, that even in the winter conditions, you can see in real life so many colours on the ground (even green) and no merely white snow. S

6./ZG26_5tuka Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 (edited) Nice vids! I really enjoyed the trailer but the second video is very impressive. It's good to know that the devs actually gathered such "data" to effectively combine their personal expiriences with their work. I'll deeplink them in my post for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXQc1lHlBDA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3ImPmyYC8o Edited July 22, 2014 by [Jg26]5tuk4
=38=Tatarenko Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 (edited) That second video (the real Yak-52 flight) is so impressive because they really made the game look like that! Well done guys! Edited July 22, 2014 by =38=Tatarenko
smink1701 Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Great vid but I have to agree that many will take this literally and be disapointed. Showing all the extra content ... ground activity, people running around, pilot POV in cockpits with hands on controls, etc. ... sets you up for an over-promise / under deliver. IMHO a promo vid could be created using 100 percent in-game footage and still be very impressive 1
sallee Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I agree with smink and Extreme_One.....it looks good enough to impress as it is.
-=PHX=-Satch Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 (edited) I dream with the day we can fly a sim with this graphics... some day... Edited July 22, 2014 by Satchenko
sallee Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Who knows, maybe all of that will be in final release I nearly said that...but I just couldn't...
71st_AH_Hooves Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Agreed. SO MUCH STUFF I WANT IN GAME from that video. Very exciting, but yeah. Id lov that much flack goin off. Id love the base to actually look like that. And the pilots body. Dude i wish. But it does make me want to fly it. So success? 1
Brano Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I think it is very good teaser.Comparable to most teasers you have for big blockbuster movies.Admit it,you see it and you immediately want ticket into first row (to see it first ) What happens in full movie is most of time quite different what you saw in trailer. But what the ...
Saurer Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I don't think that the base looks right, I would not expect such infrastructure on the german side as they were deep in the enemys territory but on the russian side.
VR-DriftaholiC Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 (edited) When will we get the ground units and flack density like there is in the trailer???? Seems like a lot more planes then the game supports too Edited July 22, 2014 by driftaholic
71st_AH_Hooves Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 (edited) question. Does the 109 sound like that on startup in game? I thought they got rid of the wind up sound. And by the way, where the heck did this video come from? I can't imagine is was just sitting on you tube? How did I miss the announcement of the new trailer? and not to beat a dead horse but Ive been trying to get a mass formation PE-2 flight for weeks, but can't because of Autobalance. Just saying. Edited July 22, 2014 by =SE=Hooves 1
SYN_Mike77 Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 When watching that second video, how many of you were craning your neck around trying to get that darn'd Trakir to kick in and follow the guy in front of you! Or was I the only one?
Matt Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I'm very surprised to just find those two videos here without any official announcement. Is this a leak or something? I like those dogfights in the second video. Seems like a lot more planes then the game supports too I count 13 planes in that fight. A few more on the ground, but still, we already have 32 planes in MP and up to 16 in QMB. Now the ground units etc. are a different matter.
dburne Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Whoa, what a video trailer! Now if I thought the final product was going to be just like that, then I would get really excited.

6./ZG26_5tuka Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 (edited) Don't know why guys are speaking up against this beautyfull trailer...trailers rarely show ingame footage or gampley nowdays, they are more like teasers (also it was never said that the trailer resembles Alpha/Beta footage of the current game. Also nobody stated that BoS won't develop from it's current state, which would translate in it always remaining beta.... Aside, fortunately it doesn't only show unreasonebal action sequences being thrown together mixed with screen sized explosions or aircrafts dodging trees/houses (seriously, who didn't get bored by this in trailers yet?). I find the structured order of the attack phases much more enjoyable than the usual boombangsuperbloomactionshooting ?§$%"&€! Edited July 22, 2014 by [Jg26]5tuk4
Trinkof Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I guess also this is not ingame video, but some small part might come from the game, most probably heavly enhanced via filters and textures. Anyway, the trailer looks fine, and really make me want to see "massive" fight involving dozen of aircraft and bomber escort !
Jason_Williams Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 These videos were part of the media pack given to the press we met with on our media tour this past week in the U.S. There was no embargo so they are not leaked. The second trailer will be on our main page soon. Jason 1
Finkeren Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 I actually think that the trailer - while being a tad over-dramatic - gives a good representation of the sim. It really doesn't look that far off. From what I can see, it's mainly the smoke effects, the "bullet time" and of course the in-cockpit pilot body that can't be recreated in BoS.
Freycinet Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 I have bullet time in my copy of BoS! - Some of my biggest enjoyment is actually slowing down the action to see what is really going on, and of course enjoying every detail of my kills in recorded tracks. The trailer is really awesome, I think. It is fantastic to see a niche genre like combat flight simming getting cinemtatic trailers like this one to promote the sim. Wouldn't have expected such a top-notch professional-looking production to come out of a relatively small publisher like 777 Studios. There is some seriously talented developers working on this project and it really shows that it is a labour of love. I don't get the rather misguided criticism of the trailer. It is a piece of PR, pure and simple, and a great piece at that. It sounds like some people think they are getting brownie points for pointing out the differences between the actual sim and the trailer, but ehhhh.... we can all see those differences, it doesn't take a genius. It is the convention in the industry to not have any special disclaimers on what is obviously a promotional trailer and then have "actual gameplay" written on in-game footage videos. That works pretty well and no-one is cheated in any way. This Pe-2 attack trailer is masterful. The compressed action (closely spaced planes, flak guns, etc) is not realistic but I was very happy to see that the planes were moving fluidly and realistically, and that dramatic sequences were mostly created with dramatic camera movements. Fantastic effects, not too much over the top, but intense and visually stunning. Kudos! 2
AbortedMan Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Of course it's obvious to those of us that have been enjoying the early access for several months, that certain features being shown in the trailer aren't actually in the game. But this trailers isn't aimed at us is it? It's aimed at people that wouldn't normally be interested. So, clearly the developers want to widen their audience ... Who's brilliant idea was it to show aspects of the game, to get new people interested, only for them to discover that some of the bits they enjoyed from the trailer aren't actually in the game they bought? Presumably there's a good reason why trailers include the "*Not in-game footage" disclaimer. Still, those of us that are only here "getting brownie points" couldn't possibly care about the overall reception this sim gets. I mean, why would we want more people to buy the game and enjoy it for what it is? FWIW when I watch a game trailer I only care for real in-game footage, all the pre-rendered "what you see isn't what you get" stuff doesn't help sell the game, it only serves to miss-sell it. Game trailers/commercials are a melodramatic representation of a game/product...that's what they do. For every game, for every product. If anyone is duped into thinking a pre-rendered and/or in-game scripted sequence is an actual 100% accurate representation of what you'll see/do when playing a game or using a product, then I imagine they won't have enough money or smarts to buy the game in the first place...since it'll be swindled out from under them due to all the wonderful other things they think they're buying...like amazingly awesome OxiClean or Snake Oil Tonics. Your same logic can be said about every original Nintendo game box cover...the game never looked like the action packed and detailed good-guy on the sticker attached to the cartridge, but it interested people anyway. If this kind of action-packed CGI stuff gets someone psyched or interested enough to check the game out, then why is it so bad? Your post seems like with this video they're saying the game can do something it absolutely can't...like cure cancer or perform fellatio. 1
AcesHigh Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 (edited) I was going to ask what game the first video is from, cause mine looks nothing like that. Instead I have a pretty boring white landscape to fly in, that regardless of where I fly looks pretty much the same. Sure hoping they improve it somehow by final release as I realize it's just early access and I also realize not everyone feels the same. Edited July 24, 2014 by AcesHigh 1
SeriousFox Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 (edited) In-game footage isn't always good. l bought the Titan*cough*Fall because of awesome gameplay trailers, all the hypes from game medias. But when the game came out, it was absolute garbage. Nobody playing that game anymore. (Unless you're '360 no scope' kind of person) Anyways, I don't understand why you guys keep talking about this CGI trailer thing. These days every game publishers make CGI trailers to promote their games. And lots of people loves to watch it even if it's not a actual game footage. Edited July 25, 2014 by resmania 1
ShamrockOneFive Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Nice trailer I was still expecting the IL-2 to make an appearance at the end and it's funny because as the titular aircraft it's not even present in the second promo trailer. It's a good promo trailer ... I think it shows off what is going on well enough. Looks fun!
Felix58 Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 If a member of the forum made the trailer I would suggest it was a bit "over the top!", although I did like the detail. But as a quick bite/sales pitch, why not?! It does make you wonder what the final version of the game is going to be like.
Mastermariner Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 IMHO this is not the correct approach to get happy, returning, customers. Master
SeriousFox Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 (edited) Except all the gameplay trailers were actually real gameplay. And I'm still playing and enjoying the game as are several of my mates, and we never struggle to get a match. Anyway, back to the topic... I wonder why it's considered acceptable to market games with the false, pre-rendered, "representative" footage. Can you imagine if they did the same thing with movies? Movie trailer is whole different thing. You're "Watching" movies not "Playing" it. As I said earlier, people loves to watch cinematic trailers just because it looks awesome. I bet the most of the people watching cinematic trailers wouldn't expect same quality in actual game. Let's say that you watched http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wq4Y7ztznKc <- this trailer. Do you expect same game as seen on trailer? I don't think so. The purpose of making CGI trailer is to promote game not to showing actual game itself. Edited July 25, 2014 by resmania
SeriousFox Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Yes, I know, it's pointless and could be seen by some people as misleading. Especially when there's no "*Not game footage" disclaimer. Oh look, who could have predicted a post like this? I see what you trying to say. I agree with you on that.
AbortedMan Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 (edited) Yes, I know, it's pointless and could be seen by overly presumptuous people as misleading!Fixed. It never said it was in-game footage. This could very well be an ad for dish soap...if it catches attention then it's done its intended job. Edited July 25, 2014 by AbortedMan 2
Jason_Williams Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Only flight simmers complain that a marketing tool such as this is a misrepresentation. You guys are your own worst enemy sometimes. Is World of Tanks being misleading? Is War Thunder being misleading? Is Blizzard being misleading? I don't see anyone complaining about their CGI videos used in much larger media campaigns then ours. Just hope we land some more customers as a result. Jason 7
