Hapo54 Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 ...is that what early release means...???... ...I just bought the early release and all I got were the aircraft... ...I was very much wanting the map...we only have the one in Flying Circus, eh...I was hopping more maps in that... ...the Typhoon has indeed been distracting but we have not forgotten The Great War...
BraveSirRobin Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 Yes, that’s what early access means. You get access to components as they are completed. The map is often one of the last things to be completed.
ST_Catchov Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 Western Front WWI Map – Scheduled for Q1 2022, might slip to Q2 if quality issues. (Made by Ugra Media)

ST_Catchov Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 Well whenever it is it's 120,000 sq km compared to the current 10,000 sq km map so we'll need drop tanks. 6
Patricks Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 That's idiotic, the current map is already plenty big enough.. unless they are doing all of Europe and presenting it as multiple theaters...
ST_Catchov Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 From the store website "Large Western Front map (120,00 sq. km.)" Typo? 12,000? 1
Hapo54 Posted September 21, 2022 Author Posted September 21, 2022 (edited) ...thankyou Brave Sir Robin... ...I don't see anything idiotic aboot a bigger world to fly in... ...they specifically mentioned future additions... ...I understand that The Great War is not going to get the Resorces IL*2 is... ...and that almost no one cares...LoL... ...I care... .!.:D.!. It can never be too big. Size matters no matter what they tell you. The projected map sizes for FC2/3 are significantly larger than the current FC1 Arras map. 1 1
EAF19_Marsh Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 So, the map? Anything useful from anyone?
Patricks Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 (edited) To be clear, flying those WWI kites that take forever to get from Point A -> Point B I only meant making the map too large would just spread things out too much. The Arras map is actually a nice size for WWI, but all of this is JMHO of course.. Edited September 22, 2022 by Patricks

When you create a mission you define which part of the map you’ll use and only that part will then be populated with scenery and other objects. So bigger is better as there is more too choose from. 2 2
[CPT]milopugdog Posted September 23, 2022 Posted September 23, 2022 (edited) The timeline for the Western front map to be released was in January. In that same post, it was stated that they hoped to fully release FCII and BoN by summertime, which obviously the Normandy release took a bit longer, and so on for FCII. In February it was mentioned that "The Western Front map for FC2/3 is also being worked on by Ugra Media, but it is not ready to be shown yet and will likely take more time to complete that we originally planned unfortunately. A clear estimate on its arrival is not possible at the moment, but will update you as soon as we get a better handle on it. Map making is a slow process in general." April only let the map only get a sentence fragment alongside a DD talking about the Sopwith Triplane " We continue to work on the map for FC2." At the end of July it garnered again only a sentence fragment alongside a sneak peak of the Me-410 "The FC2 map continues to be worked on as well." July 29th was the last mention of anything about the FCII map, so it is being worked on; just at a snail's pace. Hopefully development time will decrease now that the team doesn't have to split attention between the Normandy map, and giving Ugra Media whatever support they might need. Don't lose faith! It sounds like what's happening is we are getting the Arras and Verdun sectors, which will later be stitched together with the Reims sector to make a single large map. So what we're waiting on is an expanded map, and a new map? Edited September 23, 2022 by [CPT]milopugdog
roberbega Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 personally now I am away from the simulator precisely because of this issue, when I bought fc2 I thought that development was going to be something else, at the moment I look at the news from developers from time to time and every day that passes I forget more about the great hobby of the ww1 biplane sim, i'm just frustrated by the sim progress. Sorry 1

One map with the limited speed / range of WW1 gives more options - for instance, splitting a map into specific sectors for different map rotations, etc.
