Campaign not showing up

Hi All,

A campaign I've had for a long time is not showing up in the list of available ones. The folder is still there when I explore the PWCGBoS*User*Campaigns folders. I looked within the folder of the campaign and compared its content to other campaigns. For some reason the "Equipment" folder is missing. I have no idea what could have happened to it as I never mess around in those folders.

Is there a way to re-construct/generate a new equipment folder for that Campaign? I would hate to have to ditch it as I'm now into mid-1943 with the pilot and have run up a pretty good score ?

Regards,

Scott

Just giving this a little "bump" ?

Short of having a backup handy I don't think you can recreate the equipment folder mid campaign as it contains the supply situation for each squadron and each sides depot at the point in time your campaign was at. I'm guessing no one replied because no one could think of anything, and Pat is flat out building PWCG Normandy for us. There is a PWCGErrorlog.txt file in the main PWCG folder that gets populated each time you start PWCG so looking at that may give you some clues as to what went wrong but I don't think you can fix it. Possibly if you start a new identical dummy campaign so the same squadrons are in the campaign you could copy the equipment folder over and then the missing campaign might appear in the list and then perhaps once you can start it do an emergency resupply for each side. You could then delete the dummy new campaign.

It still won't be the campaign you were flying because the supply situation will be completely different, but it might let you continue with each side being at an even starting supply point.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Would starting a new campaign using the original Gruppe and start date, and after it is generated, plopping in the user file from the original campaign work - possibly?

I still can't figure out how that equipment file went missing. I've searched on the computer for it, including the trash folder.

Maybe, it's all guesswork at this point. I suppose you can make backup copies of the campaign folder and try different things and be able to restore the campaign from backup so at least you won't be worse off. You are kind of proposing the same thing as me although in a different way. The only thing about your method is that there may be an issue around the campaign name. I don't know if that is used as a key or reference in PWCG tables. If you did try your idea about dropping the old campaign folder over the new one (note campaign folder not user folder) then I would probably make a copy of the old campaign first or just rename the folder before generating a new one of the exact same name, unit, start date etc. Everything identical to starting values for the old campaign. Then copy the contents of the old campaign folder over to the new one allowing files to overwrite and things to merge in usual windows fashion and see what happens when you start pwcg. If it doesn't work, delete the new campaign, rename the old one back and start trying the next experiment.

Thanks for the reply!

When I have time to experiment with this, I'll post back with the results, in case someone else should ever have the same - or - similar problem.

Cheers,

Scott
