Steam Launch is down - Activating DLC on IL-2 Accounts

This is for the Devs -

The recent bouts of Steam failing to launch the game with their server troubles have left a lot of players, over several days, unable to play with the content they've purchased.

Would it be reasonable to adjust the accounts, so that DLC purchased in Steam is recognized in the game, without launching from Steam?  This would allow a launch of the game from the regular files, connected to your IL-2 (not steam) account, and have all the DLC you purchased accessible.

This could be a work-around, seeing as how Steam cannot solve the problem, and it will recur once they do.  I know that normally these two separate accounts (Steam and IL-2) are not mixed, it would be a gesture of good faith if the DLC purchased in Steam were able to be accessed with an IL-2 account, when you launch without Steam.  Right now, a large block of players are not able to enjoy the game, and stand to have continued trouble with enjoying it in the future.

Food for thought.

Yeah, it´s annoying.
The Steam-thread is 6hrs old and allready 5 pages
I play only VR so i am bound to SteamVR
Even with OpenXR, avoiding SteamVR and using the .exe
and logging in without Steam, most of us lack content, since 1C won´t let us easily interlink account.

Theres a solution to the problem, go to your local steam directory and launch game from there. Then input your IL-2 credentials and voila.

Triso--unfortunately that doesn't solve the problem, for some of us at least. I'm prompted to input my IL-2 acct credentials or login via Steam only. Either option results in a crash.

If I run IL-2.exe as an admin, it will bypass everything and actually bring me to the main menu. But, only content that I've bought directly from 1C is available.

People who erroneously bought through steam definitely need a way out. This is getting ridiculous.

The only problem with that solution, is that if you have content you purchased through Steam, it is unavailable if you launch from the game directory.

You can link accounts to solve this problem only once you're connected to Steam - which is exactly the problem.

Unless the Developer can confirm your Steam ID and manually, back-end link your content to your IL-2 forum account based on Steam purchases, there's no way to access your purchases until Steam is back up.

This will be the absolute last thing I ever buy from Steam, that is is available directly from the developer.   As a developer, I would think long, and hard, about whether or not I continue to offer my games and content on Steam, knowing that it may lead to many customers resigning my content when they they are continually locked out of it.

That's exactly what I'm sugessting.

Anyway, I don't know why do they sell the game on steam if there is always the problem with compactibility and running it via steam client....

I very much agree!

And i am surprised that it's only some DLC's that are identified in your Il-2 account!? It must surely be a bug!

Linking the accounts will not recognise all steam DLC's, unfortunately. This is the core of the problem. If everything was recognised i would never go back to Steam for Il-2.

The issue is resolved now (there was a change in Steam security and we had to update our server to be compatible).

Closing,
