Steam update gone wrong?

Recommended Posts

Ever since, what seems to be a steam game version update, the game is unplayable. First, many people couldn't even get the game to run. Now this issue has been fixed, but the game runs at 34 fps in VR when it was running at 85. I have double checked every setting and nothing has changed. But 34 fps makes it literally unplayable for me.

And nothing else has changed on my system in hardware or software. Just the steam update.

In my case, the Steam Update won't work at all.

After downloading the update files, Steam consequently gave me a "disk write error".

Did all the things that are known to cure the issue (check free space, remove 0-byte files, clear Steam D/L cache, check game files etc. pp.) to no avail.

Eventually I had to uninstall the game and reinstall it from scratch.

Hint: If you plan to do the same, make sure to backup your "input" folder and the file "startup.cfg" in advance, that way your game and controller settings will survive.

And make sure you have your il2sturmovik.com shop login credentials at hands in case you have a "hybrid" basket like I did, as you need your credentials to merge the Steam shop contents with the il2sturmovik.com ones on first login after reinstall.

I have no intention of uninstalling and then reinstalling the game.  I really don't see that successfully  increasing the frame rate back to what it used to be. At this moment the way I have decided to deal with it as to just fly the F16 in a different game. With the hopes that Steam or or 1CGS finds a fix to whatever happened that messed up so many peoples game.

It's a last resort, but as you don't have any other... just saying.
Not that much of a big deal for Steam users me thinks. Store the input folder and startup.cfg, wipe everything, reinstall, put the backup copies back in place, done.

Don't know what you are referring to honestly.

Is that FPS loss a common thing?

Didn't hear of it yet other than your post.

I don't have aby fps loss in general, but after the last update I experience some microshutters now and than. In dev's blog they said something about changes in loading, so I guess this is it.

But the game is far far away from being unplayable. So I don't know...

Isn't be the FPS loss related to the hardware? Can it be the BoN is more challenging for a hardware?
