Getting dropped to desktop and game crashes after splash screen loading, was working fine an hour ago:

Getting same thing, was fine last night.  does it in 2d or 3d.

Even did an integrity test, restarted everything but no go.  Somethings going wrong with Steam I think.

Just tried to run outside of Steam. It loaded up, then asked for email and password. Think it would have run if I had those pw's handy. Must be problem with Steam.

Me too.  I am on Steam and gets to the end of the loading screen and just goes back into the main Steam page.  Also was fine a couple of hours ago.  I was making a joystick change so was thinking that had created the problem.  I will be following here to if it gets resolved before I finish troubleshooting the new device.

It looks like you can launch it from the il2.exe outside of steam and it works. Maybe an issue with steam?

launches when ran as admin, but all aircraft are locked, so i think its a steam and IL issue. I have all dlc except BoN

Have Steam version, crashes on login (right when loading screen ends). Launched via local .exe file with Steam off, can login but my steam purchased addons are missing, I am able to play and even join MP via this method.
After launching locally and then relaunching via Steam, I get the Link Accounts Login screen, when I press Link Accounts, it CTD's.

Same problem here.  Not a problem with the new update as it was fine last night (unless they've done a hotfix today?).  Have checked file integrity twice so looks as if it is a Steam problem.  Hopefully will be? sorted by tomorrow

Can confirm it's a steam issue. Game crashed mid match about an hour or so ago, since then it has crashed everytime I have tried to launch via steam. Launching outside Steam worked without issue. Logged in and did a test fly to confirm.

Joining this thread, same issue for me... crashes after attempting to login.

The game is miraculously working for me after some troubleshooting. I don't know if the servers/steam are working again or if my troubleshooting worked. I would urge you all to try again as the servers may have been having some issues until now.

 

Possible Fix:

The new update may be having some difficulty dealing with any previous mods that were installed on the game. I have read about this in previous patches.

 

In my case Haluter's skin mod might have been conflicting with the new update, so I deleted all of the skins in my skin folder and verified the game cache via steam to reinstall them fresh.

 

If deleting all the skins inside the skins folder doesn't work, try deleting SRS as I also deleted that. I wouldn't recommend starting there though, cause its kind of a PITA to set up (imo).

 

FYI things that did NOT help:

1. Reinstalling
2. Clearing Nvidia's control panel settings

Mine is freezing after it gets to the page where it shows the last vehicle you were using. I get the 360 deg view of a T34, but nothing else is clickable. It was working fine last time I played (about a week ago). Verifying files did nothing.

Having same issue, this started after last update. game loads plays ok than crashes and wont start again have to  create new game to play again than does the same thing. getting the following message after crash and trying to restart;
