EVGA will no longer do business with NVIDIA

OMG! No!!!

Official Announcement by EVGA

https://forums.evga.com/Official-Message-from-EVGA-Management-m3574574.aspx

Guess I will be looking to MSI for my 40XX GPU and probably MSI for my next MB upgrade as well. AMD GPU is out of question for me as I run a Varjo Aero VR headset.

Been running EVGA GPU's since the 200 series cards. I so loved doing business with them.

Info from NEXUS PC suggests that EVGA will not sell ANY video cards.  They claim to be out of the video card business completely.  Too bad.  Every video card I have purchased over the last 10 years, was EVGA.  Oh well...it is what it is...take care all..

Sounds like the way Nvidia is doing business of late other partners may follow suite. Well it is the 2020's , nothing should surprise any more.

Yep same here. Nothing but EVGA since the 600’s. As far as I’m concerned they set the standard for performance, quality and customer service. They will continue to build power supplies, motherboards and some other stuff. Very risky move by their leadership assuming they want to stay in business which they claim to want to do. End of an era.

I figured that there would be shakeups now that the bitcoin mining gravytrain seems to be derailed, but this still surprises me.

I honestly think it has more to do with what Nvidia is doing with Founders Edition now and forcing third parties like EVGA to lose a lot of money in the process. But yeah bitcoin probably played some role by volume sales, although EVGA took great care to provide for their gaming customers via the Cue system which others did not do. Won't surprise me to see more drop out in the future, EVGA taking lead on it.

Me also, since the 200s. Kinda sucks Nvidia are being DHs like that. Not sure who I will buy from next. May have to go with Asus I guess.

Yeah me too - guess I am kind of leaning toward MSI as Afterburner guy kind of aligned himself with them for his great program for GPU's some time ago. Probably not the best of reasons but is the first thing that comes to my mind when considering other GPU's. I have zero experience with customer service with them or most of the others either.

This is a sad day. I started with GTX 8800 512, when they started the unlimited warranty and step up program. Except the 1080TI, all my graphics cards since then were EVGA.

Geforce GTX 8800 512MB

Geforce GTX 285

Geforce GTX 590 classified

Geforce GTX 780

            RTX 3080Ti FTW3.

They were good company. It's sad to see them go.

A good video from Gamer's nexus talking about this.

Add me to the list of eVGA GPU&PSU users since 8800 GTS.

I’m hoping my hybrid 3090 keeps running till they decide to come back (if more likely), perhaps for the 50xx series. Since I’m on 10700KF, I might be ok for performance, keeping the cpu uptodate until 3090 starts suffering for VR.

Nvidia did itself no favours undercutting their retail outlet partners by hundreds of dollars with their own 'founders edition' cards. I doubt its only EVGA unhappy with Nvidia.

Stephen Burke will no doubt be making further comment on the changes to the industry and GN will review the 4000 series cards. I guess its best to wait until we have more facts before deciding what to use instead of EVGA.

I'm set for now. I'll skip this generation. Will see what the future may hold.

This could be helpful and change the dynamic between Nvidia and the board partners, but I doubt it will happen while Jensen Huang is in charge. He's way too greedy.

I must say that is really tempting.

Skip the generation....That is what I have decided too.

I have a 3070 pushing a beautiful 160Hz G-Sync HDR IPS 34in Monitor, but no VR, so its good enough.

I am not attracted to a GPU of the size that has been mooted ( three or four slots ) with the even higher power consumption and heat output as has been suggested. No doubt they will be more expensive too.

If this trend continues it will signify the end of PC gaming as we know it. I expect (at least I hope) that this trend will NOT continue - so I expect that future generations, after the 4000, will be more efficient (use less power) and better designed (take up less space) and importantly, produce less heat. With crypto mining demand waning prices should come down some.

I also remain hopeful that AMD will become better supportive of existing technology in games (notably in the context of this forum IL2 Great Battles series) and platforms such as Varjo Aero.

I was surprised 86.68% of folk at IL2 Great Battles use Nividia

https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/76863-dd-305-video-card-survey/

AMD is gathering up more and more market share though - at Q1 of 2022 AMD was at 24% market share and Nvidia at 75%

I suppose there is a reason for all that.

So I too, am happy to wait and see what the future may hold.

My current rig is the best performing, with the best graphics, I have ever had. I am going to continue to enjoy it.

While AMD has not been perfect during the last 2 years, I would happily buy an AMD card if they could improve their DX11 drivers.  I think they did a release a few months ago but still room to improve?

Come on AMD! Give us more choices.

I still remember Hardware unboxed being blocked.  Started to get an inkling then.

If this chart is at all accurate, why would you keep selling?  Others have said that perhaps N wants to be like Apple?

I agree with Dallas88B. I usually skip every other Generation of cards and this will certainly be the case with the 40 series. I have an RTX2070 Ultra with a medium OC which suits my non VR needs just fine right now. I have the opportunity to purchase an EVGA RTX3090 + an EVGA 1000w PSU which have honestly been used like maybe 10 hours or less for a ridiculously LOW price from a well known and trusted friend. I am still hesitating to make this purchase because of the high power requirement / heat output of the 3090 which is running at around 75c in his very similar case. I run a well thought out cooling fan arrangement in my Asus case including a highly rated Noctua push pull CPU(AMD 5600x) cooler with running temps of 56c, and the 2070 runs a respectable 64c 99% of the time in sim. I don't really want to introduce more heat into my case, but I am tempted by the 20-25% performance increase that my friend has documented through tests run on his and my setup which are very comparable. Said all of that to say this: I am not a person that has to have the biggest, fasted or newest GPU, the 70 series have usually been my go to, but the Nvidia GPUs are getting out of hand as far as power consumption, heat byproduct and cost.  This 3090, if purchased, may well be my very last Nvidia card. I have always used Nvidia since I left my 3Dfx Voodoo 5 card back in the day ?, but AMD GPUs are possibly looking like the way to go for me  in the future. Their performance is comparable, their price is more reasonable and their power consumption is negligible. Who knows where all of this goes, but Nvidia looks to be limiting the competitiveness in GPU vendors and this means less choice and less initiative to keep the pricing within a reasonable scope not to mention soon one will have to have a 220v outlet in the room to run ones Rig. It's really getting rather stupid with Nvidia it seems.

IMHO of course.

All depend on the VR device you use.

For single monitor users (1080p, 1440p , 4K) they are quite ok with a 1080Ti.

But VR users are very much dependet on the resolution of the VR devices.

For Aero users I think it would be "mandatory" to go to the 4XXX NVIDIA generation.

For Quest 2 or future Quest Pro a 3070 or 3080 is more than enough.

For G2 users a 3080 or above is quite ok as well.

For Index users like me a 3080 is plenty of power. (it runs at 80Hz  ? ).

All depends on what the future devices would require:

I would snatch that up, even with the current situation with EVGA.

I probably will. I just don't like introducing more heat into my case. I will figure something out, i.e. porting the House AC duct straight into the top intake fan of my case.

The nice thing is that my friend wants to put that 3090 into my existing system and have me do some testing for him, so I can literally take it for a test drive for a couple of months with no obligation to buy it ?I If I do buy it he will help me install the new power supply also. It is hard to find friends like that.

I personally would not consider it mandatory just yet for an Aero user to get a 40xx card especially as we do not know how much improvement to the overall VR experience it might bring. In fact with the latest happenings I am considering just staying with my 3090 card for a while. Screw Nvidia, unfortunately Radeon line of GPU not an option for me currently due to my Aero. But again - screw Nvidia. About time someone knocked them off their high freakin horse.

There was a time when the United States would help to regulate a 'free-market' by enforcing anti-trust laws, thus keeping the market open for anyone to participate in.

Now, we allow mega-corps to run the market, and it locks out competition by making it entirely unfeasible to compete.

Remember, 'Free-Market' means everyone has an opportunity to participate in it.  It does not mean that you allow one company to do whatever they want to everyone else.
Shame on nVidia.

This is entirely a move to consolidate the market so they can set the pricing they want with no one to check against it.  I imagine before long, most casual gamers will be locked out of participating in higher-end games altogether.  The cost for a rig powerful enough to play the latest games will be so expensive, only other billionaires will be able to afford playing them.

So goes mega-corporations and their monopolistic pricing - so goes inflation.  Fascinating time to be alive.

Nvidia thinks they just take their cards, print EVGA lable on it and make money of of it without any work, so nvidia thinks why should they earn that mutch, evga then say ok bye bye.

LOL was watchng this and thinking only thing they are missing at this point is just placing monitor on GPU card it self to run some video spots or random bs lights, when here it comes at 8:53 ffs :

I had MSI radeon r9, msi 1070 gaming x, than msi 2070s gaming x.....never had any problem with those gpu's and they were running great, once upgraded i sold them to my friends and all i know 1070 and 2070s are still running in theor gaming rigs withput issues.

I can say MSI is my favourite, 3080 was my first EVGA gpu (also seems to be last too) and i am happy with it and in a year or two (rtx5080/6080) i'll go back to MSI without doubt.

I do not ever go exclusive one brand. Multiple Gpu's changes convinced me that they do not have to last longer than two years tops.

Wow really really glad I have decided to just hang in there with my EVGA 3090 FTW3 Ultra for a while. Maybe quite a while, like skip 40xx altogether while.
