Fw 190D-9 manifold pressure changes with supercharger gear

So I assume this is normal, I read somewhere that the Dora engine management measures air mass flow not ATA, but I just wanted to check.

While climbing at continuous power (3,000 RPM and 1.4 ATA), I noticed that when the supercharger gear shifts up, I get 1.5 ATA. I checked the techno chat and it still said continuous power. I pushed the throttle forward to 3,250 RPM and got ~1.65 ATA but techno chat still only said combat power, not emergency. After diving through the gear change, I was back at 1.5 ATA 3,250 RPM combat power.

I did not activate MW50 during this.

All normal operations? I can ignore the ATA jumping around and set power by RPM only?

That is normal. The 2nd Supercharger stage produces more ata.

You can just set power via RPM.

Good to know. I prefer to fly with technochat off and since I haven't flown this plane for a while I panicked that I might be in the wrong setting.

Is there any situation in which I can accidentally be in the 3 minute no-MW50 emergency setting? I noticed in 2nd gear it sometimes appeared for a few seconds when throttling up fast, but 100% throttle then settled back to "Combat".

No you can't get to that, if MW50 is engaged. There was a mode on the Dora prior to MW50 usage, in which you could boost your engine up. The emergency timer refers to that mode, which isn't accessable in-game.

Furthermore the engine timers were increased relatively soon after the Dora's introduction. Combat power 3000 rpm became continuous and 3250 rpm became combat for 30 min.

I could search for sources if you want.

Thanks for the explanation, that makes sense, but then the game stat card is confusing or just wrong.

Still, this means the plane has probably the most generous engine limits in game, very useful ?
