fritobambeano Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 So my grandfather flew a p47 in France and Germany during the war and he would comment on how terrible I was in game saying things like " Dear my boy how could you miss no one was that bad" and tell me that I must be doing something wrong and one day at the dinner table I asked him if he remembers what convergence his or his flight groups liked or used to witch he replied well he used 200 250 300 and 350 and everyone in the group was about the same some started at 300 some 250. witch confused me and I asked oh so ya changed it according to what your mission was and he said no not really setting the guns up like that pretty much took care of whatever they ran into so i said but ya gave me 4 different distances your guns can't be set two 3 different ranges they don't move around in the wings and he agreed but reminded me there were 8 guns total and they could set each to whatever range they would like as close as 250 out to infinity more or less in training all guns would be set to the same point to keep things consistent through training but they were told and advised to harmonize the armament for combat. Unfortunately, I cannot afford the manual that shows the graphs but i found a wonderful YouTube channel that shows exactly what my grandfather was talking about ill post the link i highly recommend watching his whole series on the p47 its amazing and is way misrepresented in media and games YouTube channel - Greg's Airplanes and Automobiles link to p47 armament video and plays when he shows and discusses the official flight manuals graph on convergence - 8
354thFG_Rails Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 Thanks for sharing. Unfortunately the game has our convergences set to a fixed point. All guns firing at the same convergence just like how you grandpa described it for training. I hope one day we can have different convergences for different guns or at least a mod to have point convergence or a fixed box convergence. It would definitely benefit wing mounted gun. 1
