Chilli_40 Posted September 11, 2022 Posted September 11, 2022 Is this a common issue, I'm seeing it flashing on and off a lot during startup of the sim, and now occasionally during game play. During game play it's mostly reading 0.0, but while loading the game it's all over the place. What exactly does this mean, and should I be adjusting something to fix it. It doesn't really seem to affect the game play very much, I am running frame rates from about 90 down to about 65, with settings on the higher side. I'm running in openxr with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, Tuf Gaming X570-PLUS MB, GeForce RTX 3080Ti, 64GB DDR4 Ram. I was thinking perhaps of upgrading to the 5800X3D, would this be a good upgrade? Thanks for any advice
[CPT]Crunch Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 Don't worry about it when in menu's, it's busy chugging and loading things, everyone gets that. It turns red when you have less than 15% overhead, yellow when under 25%. Your generally good unless your overhead is dropping down into the single percentage digits, that's where you really start losing frames. Over clocking for higher speeds can help so long as it's stable, remains cool, also lowering CPU dependent graphics features like shadows can help. Know nothing specific about AMD, sorry. It's going to take a combination of graphics card, memory set right, and the CPU to get her humming along. CPU on it's own if it's currently the limiting factor will need the other two to be running at peak efficiency so it can too. 1

Some people upgraded to that chip from 5800X and reported their gain in the SYNVander benchmark table. Cache and RAM (freq and latency) are factors to consider for IL-2 VR. With the new Zen4 and 13thgen of Intel it might be better to wait just some months. Meanwhile here you can see an indication on how the settings affects the CPU load (this is 2 year old): 1
Chilli_40 Posted September 12, 2022 Author Posted September 12, 2022 Awesome, thank you for the information, guys.
354thFG_Drewm3i-VR Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 I think I'm going to wait for the risen 7800X3D to make it worth upgrading from my 5600X. 1
chiliwili69 Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 Going to the 7600X it could be already a big upgrade. (Mobo upgrade required). Later the future 7800X3D (still to be seen) will use the AM5 motherboard and it can go further, With these new CPUs we will not be CPU limited anymore under almost any circunstance. I think. 1
