Avoiding Updates in SP

Been playing TC for a while now in SP only to get used to it before going MP.  I use missions from the ME so no server access required but the big problem I have is: someone in HQ seems to know when I get THAT itch, and need to jump on and play, and they release an update.  I've tried using the game rather than the launcher to start and also selecting 'offline', but it still insists I update.  It's at the point that I don't bother for a few weeks and forget the key bindings.

 

It doesn't help that I have a crappy internet connection at the minute so updates can take hours.  Just don't have the time for that.

Anyone else get the issue ?

Hey Cromwelli, I have a similar issue, there is a work around.... Sort of. 

 

Firstly, once the game has version checked, you are commited to the update. Nothing you can do about that unfortunately. 

 

Once you are updated, use the exe to start the game and select offline. You can continue to use this mode indefinitely, so long as you never try to log online and get caught out of version. 

 

It does mean you are limited to quick missions or user made missions. 

 

Not a great workaround as you have to update in the first instance, but it does work. I am still running 4.7 - I have no Internet and take my whole rig into a gaming lounge every 3 months to run updates when I need to.

 

A very third world solution.... but at lesst I still get to fly planes, drive tanks and generally blow shit up ?
