Moderators CLOD AWC Posted September 11, 2022 Moderators CLOD Posted September 11, 2022 (edited) Hello all Finished video here!: Original post I'm sure most people have heard of the most famous Luftwaffe sortie on D-Day by Joseph Priller and his wingman as seen below. Can anyone confirm which direction the strafing run took place? Don Caldwell doesn't explicitly state it in his account http://don-caldwell.we.bs/jg26/6june44.htm, but I assume they flew East to West as they approached from Le Havre. I'm currently making a video about this so thanks for the help. Soto Edited September 18, 2022 by Lemsip 10 4 4

1CGS LukeFF Posted September 12, 2022 1CGS Posted September 12, 2022 Yes, East to West, as recorded in Vol. 2 of Caldwell's book on JG 26. ? 3
MAJ_stug41 Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 This historical documentation clearly shows it was in bf108s going west to east! https://youtu.be/zF67YdzowO4?t=70 3

Avimimus Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 I remembered that scene as Fw-190s flying east to west... how odd.. shows how memory is unreliable... So when are we getting the Bf-108s?
sevenless Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 Donald Caldwell on D-Day here: don-caldwell.we.bs/jg26/6june44.htm 1

[CPT]Crunch Posted September 18, 2022 Posted September 18, 2022 Back in the 80's had a semi-disabled civilian contract hire in our shop who was landing on the beach in a Sherman and permanently put out of action by a .50 cal thrown out by a Mustang. According to him Priller and company weren't the only ones strafing the beaches that day.? 1 1
Youtch Posted September 19, 2022 Posted September 19, 2022 Did you create a mission to produce this systematic? There is a big volume of ships and units. I am curious to know how it impacted fps.

The ships on their own weren't too bad but with the smoke effects, infantry and tanks the fps dropped to 30 if I looked at certain scenes. I tried my best to do less resource intense shots. 1
Avimimus Posted September 19, 2022 Posted September 19, 2022 I'm a bit disappointed you didn't use the Bf-108s from Desert Wings Seriously though - that is a nice looking invasion fleet!
Bonnot Posted September 19, 2022 Posted September 19, 2022 The best part is the ground level straffing with smokes, fires and speed ....with the FW shooting at the spectator ! Otherwise there is always the problem of sparse flak effects and empty battleground ...but Lucas Studios are way too far
