Too bright inside tank VR

As a tank driver its hard to see anything through the view port.  It's all white as if there were stage lights inside the tank. Is there a way to reduce the brightness?  I tried a mod to reduce sun glare but I think it only works for planes.

I don't have any issues unless if I drive directly into the sun which is blinding by design. Perhaps this is caused by your hardware or rendering mode?

Must be something I'm doing wrong. I'm messing with my graphics settings to see what changes. Yours looks perfectly ideal to me.  I may even uninstall and reinstall the game. Is there a way to default everything without having to uninstall? 

 

Edit: I'm on VR i should have mentioned that I forgot.

My screenshots were taken while in VR. I currently play with a Reverb G2 but I also have a Rift S.

I'm not using VR, but I have run into an incompatibility with the Tank War Effects I've been using since last year for its better vehicle burning effects. No Mod, no problem. With the Mod installed the interior of the tanks are much brighter that they were before rev 5. I've also had some random computer lock-ups when the gun fires, so it's probably related to some particular effect that the new version can't deal with. I'm currently going through the painstaking process of tracking down what the issue is.

I also have the tank effects mod. I'm going to reinstall.

The modified file from Tank War Effects v11, light_dummy_small.epl, was the file causing the tank interior to be brightly lit all the time.

I did a complete reinstall of windows wiped everything.  I'm pleased to say it looks good and better yet runs better.
