Spitfire trim issues

Probably another stupid question but I can’t seem to get my spitfire to trim at all. 
 

I’ve set up the key mapping and have the trim hat set up to control elevator and rudder trim. There’s no red box stating those keys are used elsewhere (TM Warthog Hotas) but I can’t get it to trim at all. Nothing happens when I press the buttons. 
 

when I hit AI autopilot then the aircraft trims itself and I see it on the hud but I can’t get it to do anything other than reset trim when I take control again. 
 

anyone else ever had this issue? I don’t have it with DCS spitfire, only on Il2

It works for me with the trim hat on the Warthog Joystick. I would say recheck your assignments. Rudder trim will control roll adjustment.

The first types or marks of Spitfire did have fixed trim tabs on their wings that pilots could not change in flight!

That has nothing to do with what the topic starter was asking. ?

 

@RegalEagle, make sure you are binding your trim commands to the Elevator Trim Axis and Rudder Trim Axis commands, regardless of what device you're using. The "Switch" trim commands are for a few planes in the game that have their trim controls adjusted by switches (P-40, Hs 129, etc.).
