Battle Of Normany Review / Experience So Far

Il-2 is very well optimized for VR. I can hit high 60s and even 70s in mp with a 1080 if I use FSR. That being said, with the Normandy update my frames tanked to below 40. This might sound crazy, but try deleting your startup.cfg file, and restart the game so it builds a new one. Edit it from there and hop back in. For whatever reason, my FPS went back to 60s and 70s. Worth a try.

IL2 is terrible in VR, until you play any other flight sim, then you realize the others are even worse (except aerofly 2, that one is very smooth). But as an owner of an AMD card, I must say I would really like it if the dev's take a look at the relative peformance deficit of AMD versus nvidia, especially with the rumors that the next gen is going to be a straight up AMD win.

TL;DR:  Tell me you're a fanboy without saying your a fanboy.  Any negative comment toward the game is automatically brushed aside as a rant because God forbid your echo chamber is rattled and you have to see anything but sunshine and rainbows rammed up your 6.

 

I simply called a spade a spade. A thread called "Battle Of Normany Review", posted shortly after the game release in the main forum section, but dedicated solely to OP's VR experience (and half of it not even with BoN), is not a review. At least it was moved later to a more appropriate forum section. 

 

I'm not disparaging his opinion, I acknowledged his issues, but simply stated that I don't have a solution, as I don't see such problems on my end. 

 

Anyway, it's pretty obvious that the only thing you seek here is confrontation, as you're not interested in helping OP, just having more drama. So I'm out, go find another target in your crusade against fanboys.

IL 2 may be terrible in VR is quite a statement. There's a lot to be considered with going VR.   Number one is, what model HMD are you using?  Video card..no problem whatsoever with Nvidia.  CPU, Ram, in game settings, steam settings, if you have the Pimax 8kx etc. you have Pitool settings.  What is your total VR setup consist of?  You will get some very professional help in setting up your VR system if they know what you're running for VR.  I have the 8kx and it took me months to get all the software etc. settings properly set.  It was all worth it.  IL 2  now runs smoothly and looks beautiful.   Hope you get some advice here..good luck,..take care..
