Glaswegian here, it was noticed ? Are there any plans to give the Spitfire Vb an LF modification? I don't think any frontline Mk Vs were using the bog standard 45/46/50 engines by 44 and all were using the M variants. Edited September 8, 2022 by Lythronax 2
Ralston66 Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 A great big thanks to the developers! Love this sim 1 2

=FI=Blue2 Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 A huge 'THANK YOU!' and congratulations to the entire team! Fantastic to see such a major step forward in all that's represented here, and we're all extremely fortunate to be the benfactors. Likewise a big thanks to all of the 'larger team' from skinners, forum mods, testers, researchers and EVERYONE else who has put their precious time & love into this latest 3 year 'chapter' of effort. We don't have ample words, but I think we all wish you who've worked so hard a nice long break, and hope you enjoy celebrating the moment with us! Well done, well done. 1 4 4
Indigene Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Fantastic! Thank you so much for the hard work! Y'all have made one of the best games ever! Sit down, have a drink, and relax for a time for a job well done. Y'all should be proud of yourselves. Kick ass! 1

I’ve been a member of online 602 in one form or another since 1999…also was a committee member for 602 Squadron museum association…met 4 pilots of 602 that flew during the Battle of Britain…they are one of the top scoring fighter squadrons of WWII and I gave a copy of the ORB to the team back at the start of the project ( well a link to download it from my Dropbox) so just find it strange that they were not included as a fly able unit. Unfortunately I have zero interest in other squadrons in the sim and zero for flying as any other airtype outwith spitfires …due to building a spitfire cockpit with working switching etc, sad I know but that’s how I feel. Hopefully they will include the Squadron at a future update. Oh I live not far from Glasgow..near Prestwick home to 602 from Dec 40 till early 41 lol Still, a hearty congratulations to the team for releasing this...well done! Praetorious Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Thanks you very very much, I was watching a movie tonight and just for the heck of it went and tried to start the game, been doing that for a week without playing it, told myself i wasn't gonna play till the new map came out so a minute ago i tried it and bam!!! there it is,this should be the death knell for my computer, lol, good excuse to build me a new little monster, downloading the map right now, you guys take a good break, you deserve it and thanks again!!
Cleo9 Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Earlier release than I expected (end of September), congrats guys, great job, quite an amount of work over the past 3 years, bravo et félicitations !!! 1
WWCephas Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Thanks for the release but there is a major problem with the Mission Editor now. You can no longer link objects or targets in different groups which is a major problem. It works in my non updated old copy but not in the new version. I tried restarting and using blank mission templates with the same result. Anyone other Mission Builders having this issue?
II/JG11_ATLAN_VR Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 great i am happy finally BON is Released but the question is what comes next Pacific??? 1
Denum Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 (edited) Amazing The map is exceptional. The new bare metal skins are absolutely fantastic. Seemed like the reflections in the game world were really popping also. The DM improvements are phenomenal. I blew 4 hours just trying the planes out and had a absolute blast. My tea was ice cold and untouched by the time I remembered it was there. Edited September 8, 2022 by Denum 2 2 1

SOLIDKREATE Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 CONGRATULATIONS 1C Can't wait, I need to sell something. Anyone intrested in a Warthog? ? Operation Overlord skins will now be in-work. I'll be making the PR.XIII Spits out of the Mk.IXe and the attackers (Mozzys). I have to finish up a couple of B-26's for someone first. 1
easterling77 Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Plans for the day just changed. Thank you so much!!!
RegalEagle Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Is anyone struggling to find the new scripted campaign for Normandy? I don't appear to have one but definitely have the new module.

Ala13_UnopaUno_VR Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 (edited) Congratulations to the 1C team, the wait has been long, and the effort is noticeable! We will spend thousands of hours on this magnificent map. What would help make it a perfect map? -Bocage. -Poles Power lines. -Short grass on English slopes. (no texture painted sticker) -Different types of tree, bush. -B17 StaticObject. -More variety of color of the water/waves/more intense foam. Because? I think this map is very characteristic, especially the vegetation in certain areas, it really gives the feeling that you are flying in England, you need to see that you are over England, and not on a standard map, vieliki luki, something that we are used to, perhaps, These small details in the future are valued and included, it would really be the icing on the cake, to be the map of Normandy that surpasses the rest of the sims that have created something similar, but for the moment I am decaffeinated if I want to feel that I am really on french/english soil. 76SQN-Minimayhemtemp Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 I'm sure this will get buried, but I'm actually pretty dissapointed in the Normandy map. The representation of the SE towns in Britain seem quite inaccurate, in particlar the layout of towns and connecting road/rail infrastructure for Midhurst, Godalming, Guildford and Haslemere. I grew up around these towns and have studied historical maps at the Woking history center (bit of a geek tbh); it feels to me that the actual layout chosen was a mismash of what the developers saw on the maps and thought it should be. Major road layouts kind of make sense, but the layout of minor roads and distribution of houses along railway tracks makes no sense. For example, Godalming high-street is completely inaccurate, and while you can see its sister town Farncombe next to it, the houses layout and minor roads are not accurate - although some roads like Peperharrow Road (longest coldesac in the world) is present. The geological features in the map seem accurate; the downs and smaller hills are all present and well proportioned; you can even see minor hills like Chinthurst Hill; although the surrounding villages - and critically the Guildford to Brighton train line that was a bombing target during WW2 is missing. My expectations are probably too high, this is not MSFS 2020 (Microsoft's Surrey Flight Simluator??) afterall; but still - I looked forward to buzzing around these old towns. 6
150GCT_Veltro Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Stunning map, really. Please push the C47! I like a lot the textures and and how the tiles have been spread on the map, really credible and looking great. With the new sky and clouds it does look better and better. Complaints? Yes of course: E3, E4, Spitfire Mk.I and Mk.II, Ju87B....ecc 1

Have you ever been to southern and south eastern England and flown over it? This map ‘is’ every bit the generic default IL-2 that you say it’s not. The UK countryside is made up solely of farmland and hedgerows & in my 3 hours of flying around I’ve yet to encounter one hedge. It represents the UK in no way save for the white cliffs and Stonehenge. 15 minutes ago, 76SQN-Minimayhemtemp said: I'm sure this will get buried, but I'm actually pretty dissapointed in the Normandy map. FINALLY … someone else in agreement. I can’t believe this hasn’t been pointed out. You cannot expect to pass up a generic map with a white cliff, completely disregard all factual evidence and leave out hedgerows, farmland and happily pass it off as a painstaking effort in recreating a realistic map of 1940’s England and France. It’s so so disappointing to the people that know how vastly different their map is to the reality of the geographical nature of southern England & France. While you mention road layouts etc, I was never expecting a faithful representation of such detail and that can be excused but the whole feel of an $80 map MUST portray that of what to advertise it as being and it doesn’t. Not bothering with uk hedges and farmland and French Bocage is like churning out a rail simulator with no stations, it’s that simple. Edited September 8, 2022 by GSHWK_Houndstone_Hawk 2 1 2

senseispcc Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 A nice surprise, no! a Good surprise, EXELENT surprise even better a wonderful SURPRISE! THANKS!
tattywelshie Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 I can't believe the fuss over some shrubs, end of the day, it's a flight sim, sure, the A456 coming out of some town in Surry might not be accurate, or the Butchers Arms in Dover might have the wrong type of roof, but lets not forget the amount of work that has gone into the map is astonishing. I'm sure in the future there will be fixes to address certain issues, but for now, take a plane up and just enjoy the work that's gone into the map. 5 1 6

You mean geeky locals, brethren of airplane "rivet counters", and I partially understand that point of view. Partially, because most of the remaining worldwide customer base either have never been to these areas to compare, or couldn't care less as long as major cities and correct airbases are included. Although there's always room for improvement, you guys need to really manage your expectations. Currently, this game engine is not quite capable of providing level of terrain and infrastructure detail close to MSFS but neither it's meant to. 1 1 2
A-E-Hartmann Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Congratulations, Thank you for your excellent work. Can't wait to be able to fly over Normandy. Looking forward to discovering the future with you and knowing the next opus. 2
