Very interesting Eeafanas.

Is there some more information about what could possibly come next?

Kind regards,

I don't know how many more times it has to be said, but there doesn't have to be aircraft carriers to have a Pacific fight against the Japanese...

Congratulations on the new release and I'm very thankfull for the quicker loading times and other improvements on my lowish system. Especially reloading missions was a marked improvement.

Instead of pacific I'd like to see later war russian airplanes. The reds need the LA-7, Yak-3, Yak-9U and P-63 to have a better chance against Normandy and Boddenplatte aircraft. Maybe something like a 'Bagration' pack.

And where is document that show P-63 was used in europe? or they should start making DLCs based on myths and rumors LOL

I don't know how many more times it has to be said, first PTO without carriers is pointless you could stay in any other area and noth bather making airplanes that you dont have data on...that players will constantly question on why this speed, why this engine timer, why this DM, why not this gauge, why no gunner position, why no observer here, its not this color its that and so on...

Here let me fix that for you Trooper.

"I don't know how many more times it has to be said, but there" needs "to be aircraft carriers to have a Pacific fight against the Japanese..."

I don't believe for one second, that this SUPER development team are unable to create carriers.  These guys can do anything!

True, with enough time, data and resources.

Have a nice day.

I have no doubt they could do it. It has been done before (see e.g. DCS, and of course IL-2 '46). The problem, as always, comes down to convincing those who hold the purse strings that it is economically viable.

Well, to be fair, they still haven't been able to model craters, or trenches, so a floating, moving island, might be a bit much to ask.  Not saying that this team isn't amazing, it is, but moving, floating islands might be a ways down the pipeline of development.

I know that, there's at least one of the soviet aces admiting they used the P-63 in Europe in small quantities. (It's only a rumor? I didn't know that)

It's not too far of a bend in historical acuracy, we have careers in the west where the LW is much more numerous than it actually was in real life. Just in this thread: allied patrols over the invasion beaches meeting much more LW fighters than there were in real life. Having a few more P-63s than (rumor) were actually used in real life could be acceptable for some players.

It never stopped mission makers and servers before. I've seen youtubers flying I-16s at Kuban MP servers for example, where in the single player career they are not present anymore.

From the sound of it carriers sound like an engine limitation, and in addition to the limited flight data for Japanese aircraft I’d say pacific is a no-go. I’d be all for a Battle of New Guinea without carriers though but that still doesn’t solve the aircraft issue. Having said that I’d prefer a Sicily/Italy scenario but I know the Eastern Front stuff sells.

Back to Normandy, please. There are plenty of Pacific threads among the "what's next" threads available. I'm not going to scour this thread for what's here already but I will be hiding them going forward.

Thanks,

Anyone else had this problem on career mode?

I’ve played absolutely fine and then the first mission post D-Day doesn’t actually load a mission or route. It tells me to start mission but then it allows me to I pause and I’m just floating, without an aircraft, over the channel. It’s very annoying.

I don't have the time to fly as much as I would like lately but congratulations about this release. It looks amazing and it really enriches the IL-2 environment enabling 1942 - 1945 combat on the Western Front along with Bodenplatte.

I've only had the opportunity to spend about an hour roaming the map. Good stuff! Having flown back and forth from the UK to continental EU many times, I'd say this is the best representation of the area ever seen in any sim. Maybe the water looks a littler darker from up high IRL, but that could be the time and weather settings I've tried so far. The ground textures look very nice indeed, IMO.

About the water, I take that back. I've had some me-time and tried the map using different time and weather settings, and I think it looks great, especially at higher sea state settings as it's usually pretty rough out there.

I also finally had the opportunity to lean a bit into France, and it really struck me how good the landscape looks. I think the devs have really captured the essence of the light and super-saturated yet very delicate colours of Normandy. If you're just a little bit into art, I'd say you can actually get an idea of what those impressionists were on to just by cruising around this map. I think it's truly amazing to see that represented so well in a video game.

It's probably a mission generation error. What squadron, date and mission type was that?

If it will happen again, please close up the game and send me _gen.Mission from /data/Missions/ and mgen.log file from /data/.

From the patch notes:

yeah that loading time for the UI is unnoticeable at best. marginal increase at best. AI is still just as bad as before. I watched a 109 destroy my wingman who flew straight and level, then had 2 109's follow me from France all the way back to the airfield in England, i flew over the airfield 10 times roughly and spaa did nothing and the 109's shot me down. So in my opinion nothing of note has changed in terms of UI or AI.

I have noticed that when I go into the mission part of the sim, I do have the list of missions like Stalingrad Missions, Moscow, Kuban and Rheinland Missions. But there are no Normandy Missions, is this normal or it is my installation that was not correctly completed.

Dburne wrote specifically about mission loading times, and these got noticeably lower indeed. I can now use scenery distance set to "unlmited" and the maps still load faster than before on "50 km" I used up till now. Now, if only the game launch and login time was faster, I would be even happier. Maybe in the future...

We've find a source of the problem, will be fixed in the next update. Meanwhile you can change starting location from air to ground, in that case beachhead patrol missions will be generated properly.

I miss them too. Thought they would come perhaps when BoN is officially released. Received a Message by Mail that it is now released, but still no missions and no additional update at steam.

Is this the first module without single SP-missions for intend?

Well consider me enticed. Still can't overstate how much I'm enjoying the new map and DM changes.

Only wish list item is the P47 FM getting looked at one day.

Can't wait to see what else they have planned.

Shooting them while flying straight I'd unlikely to remove the wing as there's little load being applied.

I flew my P47 for a bit after striking a tree and the wing was barely hanging on. If I was gentle no issue. Soon as I started pulling real Gs it broke.

You can see how much the wing is bent here.

I'm sure when they have time they'll continue to work on it.

They just kicked out a massive release. Let the dust settle a minute?

Not sure if this is a P51-B question or a Normandy question. Just flew 1st mission of a BoN Career, flying a P51-B with the 355th FS out of Lashenden. All went fine but I noticed my Aileron trim is not working. Checked the Key bindings, reset them, still nothing. Pitch works fine... Should say, loved the (relatively short) bomber escort, jumped by early FW190's but I got 2. Final odd thing is I had a nice, one small bounce landing, and the records show me as fine but "Crashed"?? Did manage an Air Medal so all is well..

Affirmative! Aileron trim doesn't work, not only on P-51B, but on P-51D and P-39L-1. I didn't have chance to check that properly but I assume all airplane types with real life aileron trim axis have that bug for the time being . But airplane types with real life aileron trim switch button (like P-40E-1) are all ok. And one more thing I can assume: that bug doesn't affect players who use aileron axis device instead of key so those players may do not notice any problems with aileron trimming. Anyway that's a bug. Should be fixed.

Posted

Working fine for me, consider the Fw's possibly shot the trim motor out, had that happen to me just a few nights ago riding in a B.  Was initially thinking my controller crapped out, but it was only that axis, if there was a message, never saw it.  Did a ground repair and it was back in service.

You should check what you post before you declare it as a fact or a bug... I'm not having any trouble with aileron trim in the P-51B and D. It does not work mapped to an axis, but that's not a bug. edit... you have to map it to the aileron axis.

I just checked it in game to make sure nothing has changed, and it's fine. I would imagine it's a control mapping error or mission specific.
