Something I noticed about game speed and cpu time dilation

We've all experienced the game slowing down when it has a lot of AI to manage at the same time.

But I noticed a few times, tonight in an even more evident fashion, that if you last long enough in a mission with significant slowdown due to time dilation until most of AI planes de-spawn, the game will run at an ACCELERATED rate for some time before coming back to a normal rate.

Tonight I was limping back home in BOS in my damaged IL2, barely making 265 kmph when I suddenly felt my aircraft becoming more nimble but more unstable. A flyby external view revealed the reason : the game was running at an accelerated ratio, maybe 1.7 or 1.8 times the normal speed, this flyby made it look like I was making 500 kmph easily. A couple of minutes later it was back at normal speed.

Has anyone ever noticed such a behaviour of the game and why is going faster than normal for a bit after going slower for a while?

Time dilation is the reason i dont play this game anymore. Its a game breaker for me and improvement in this area is what i seek in every update.

But back to your question, its normal.

Game is speeding, slowing i cant figure out what exactly is slowing down the game. I can play user made mission with many planes in the air and the game is fluid, but then i play carrer mode and the game is unplayble with only a few planes in the air. Many times i was returning to my base after mission when the game was fluid again, but near the airfield the game slowed again for no reason . External view showed there are no planes in the air except my own flight.

I have, and reported it in the bug section of the forum.  Worst thing, was that it occurred as I was on finals!  That was a harrowing landing.

I see it all the time when I host multiplayer for the BlitzPigs.  As host my aircraft is moving much slower relative to those not hosting, even though my IAS is higher than my team mates.  One of the other Pigs can now also host, and when he runs the same mission and I am just a player, my aircraft is significantly faster than his is, even though our IAS as indicated on the HUD are the same, or mine is a smaller number.  This mission has a large number of AI in it, ships, land vehicles, and aircraft.  It is in the Kerch area of the Kuban map.

Its like the game was trying to make amends or compensate...

'Oh sorry I was slow as heck during that epic fight above Stalingrad, but dont worry, on your way back home you'll benefit from a 1.5x speed increase for 4 minutes'

Sorry, no deal!

I imagine it is indeed trying to compensate the time lost by one loop (physics for example) versus the gameworld time loop so until their ticks match it adjusts the frequency of the timer that has lagged.

I have noticed this also. I can no longer play career mode with front line dense.... If I switch to medium it seems to be OK. I do run all graphics settings at maximum on a RTX 3060 with a Ryzen 5 5600 and just assumed I had hit the limit of what they are capable of. Havent seen this problem on user made missions yet; but also haven't really made any effort to test it either

That actually makes sense and would explain why it runs faster for a short while after most AI planes de-spawned!
