How do I mod the gamefiles

I am unhappy with how some of the planes look in IL 2:cliffs of dover blitz, and I was wondering how can I modify the game files?
The team have been very unhelpful as they have provided me no guide on how to get into the game and edit it, so I was hoping you guys would know a solution

Currently CloD isn't open source and not open to community modding.

Or make your own flight simulator in Unity.

or figure out how to hack the files as the original TF did before they got the source code.
