Youtch Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 The other day i was flying MP and people where using clouds as rendez vous points, which surprised me and ends up making me thinking if the clouds do move or not. My last missions in MP i was under the impression they do not move or if they move they don t move a lot. So here comes the question: Are the clouds static or do they actually move in some correlation to the wind. I love the cloud and possibilities of play they give. I just wonder if it makes sense to use them as reference points, especially these with very distinc shapes.
1CGS LukeFF Posted September 4, 2022 1CGS Posted September 4, 2022 They've moved with the wind since ROF. 1
Youtch Posted September 4, 2022 Author Posted September 4, 2022 I am not sure what ROF is, but thanks.
BlitzPig_EL Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 (edited) Indeed they have. I have a mission with scattered rain showers, and it's interesting to sit on the field and watch the clouds and showers pass over. ROF is "Rise Of Flight", the WW1 sim that is the progenitor of the Great Battles Series. Edited September 4, 2022 by BlitzPig_EL 1
Youtch Posted September 4, 2022 Author Posted September 4, 2022 Thanks. I need to explore more and spend some more time on the ground. Do they all move at the same speed and in the same direction, regardless of height?

Rise Of Flint, the spiritual predecessor of the Great Battles series, Jason lead the team there for years until they started with this series. Many of the devs of RoF are now in the GB team: https://riseofflight.com/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rise_of_Flight:_The_First_Great_Air_War Have a nice day.

At least, I *think* I recall seeing two cloud layers move at a slightly different speed/direction. Of course, this all depends on the mission. If the mission author set a wind speed of 0, the clouds will be static.
Livai Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 Clouds don't move and are called Rubber-Band Clouds what rub each other creating static electricity............... 1
Skycat1969 Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 Digital airplanes are electric vehicles so the static electricity is necessary to keep them flying.

Fly a lil' higher with your K4 (mission attached), and you'll see the top and underneath cloud move with different speeds and direction. Bf109K4 and cloud tester.zip 1 1
