PAUL_ATREIDES Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 Hi, I am a new player.. ! I would like to change my screen 24" 1080P for a 27" 1440p. Do you think i may play smoothly with upper graphics level with that config: I7 4790K o/c 4.5GHz - 16 Go DDR3 3200 - SSD SATA 3 500Go - GTX 1070 - internet connection by optical fiber. Many thanks for your advise. ?
Gambit21 Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 (edited) Well I was doing fine with a 1080 at 4K, 24” on high settings, medium clouds before upgrading to a 3070 a few months ago. Steady 60 fps in most situations. I realize this isn’t an exact indicator for you, but should give you some insight. Upgrading the CPU was the biggest help, and this extended the usefulness of my 1080 for nearly 2 years until I finally upgraded the GPU. Edited September 1, 2022 by Gambit21 1 1

I've seen 67c once, when raising the hz on my Quest 2 to 90, other than that, it stays around 63 in a monitor.

I don’t hear it making much noise, so I haven’t paid any attention to temps to be honest. 1

moustache Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 personally with I7 9750h and an rtx 2060 I quietly upscale more than 2K on a 1080p screen for 70FPS with the settings fully. moreover, at 2K, you can largely turn off antialiasing services, which are resource-intensive, and with 2k you will reduce flickering 1

I've since upgraded to an RTX 2070 Super and now to an RTX 3070, but when I built this PC in late March, it started life with a GTX 1060 3GB in it. I managed to run IL-2 in 1440p on that system and with that GPU (i5 12600k, 16 GB of 3600 DDR4). In fact, here's a random SP mission on the Stalingrad summer map I shot with this setup and at 1440p. System specs are in the description and I was even smart enough to keep the FPS counter running when I shot this clip. Don't remember my exact graphics settings back then, but I did have to dial back a bit on the eye-candy. Still: That card gave me a very nice experience in IL-2, especially considering its age and lack of VRAM. 1070 should do quite a bit better. 1
