Anyone any experience with DDR5 memory?

Finally i got an answer from Gigabyte that my Corsair Vengeance DDR5 5200mHz memory is not supported for XMP and my Aorus z690 i9 motherboard.

Computer crashes if set to it.

I'm no expert and my only experience is through doing some preliminary research for my next rig. This topic is the rage on many mobo forums.

This is for 2 sticks of RAM, yes? Four sticks doesn't appear all that stable at higher DDR5 frequencies on several boards.

Your setup crashes on all the XMP profiles (or, rather, Gigabyte told you it's not supported on any of them)? Have read that some have had some success increasing their CPU/Memory VDDQ level.

Hopefully some with better knowledge than I will chime in.

Might be your CPU is the culprit, lesser than the top dog in the series is usually going to limit what levels of XMP is supported.  Or everybody could buy the cheaper chips and go full blower.

Are you on the latest bios? It appears you are using micron memory. As previously mentioned, 4 sticks DDR5 most likely will not run at XMP. If 2 sticks, I find it hard to believe that you cant make 5200Mhz work on any Z690 board. If anything, I would use XMP settings and maybe bump the VDDQ/VDD voltage up a little bit. You could also check each memory channel individually with one stick at a time to see if one of the channels is malfunctioning. I had a micron 5200Mhz kit on an Asus board and it ran without problems with XMP.

Uhm..  I think that XMP profiles are independent of the chosen CPU for the board.

Otherwise you will need to specify the used CPU in the RAM configurator when looking for a new RAM. For example, at Gskill you only need to provide the model of the Mobo, but not the CPU used. https://www.gskill.com/configurator

It is true that top line CPUs are use usually coupled better Mobos, and here better Mobos support better xmp profiles. But in principle I think CPU choice is independent of XMP profile.

Nope, not always true, a 11600K will not support any XMP above 3200, but the chips above it can and will.  I found that out the hard way.

Latest Bios, and i found out my Vengeance memory is listed on the Gigabyte site as OK for XMP, but they do not work as such.

Support said they will look in to this. ?

I read on gaming forums that XMP has problems with Z690 chip sets, unless you only use A2 and B2 slots. 4 modules don't work.

Ohh!  I need the details.

In principle the 11600K has been certified by Intel in seferal Mobos and RAM for frequencies higher than 3200, look here.

What particular model of Mobo and RAM had that limitation?

If your 4 modules a 4x8Gb or 4x16Gb you can then put just two modules just to try. IL-2 in VR or Monitor doesn´t need more than 16Gb.  Other games or apps could be a different story.

Could you also provide the exact models of the Mobo and RAM and CPU just to be aware?

i9 12900K, sent the memmory back, and have now 2x 32 Corsair ddr5s, slot a2 and b2.

z690 aorus ultra rv 1 MB.

XMP on and still the PC froze on booting, needed a hard reset. on auto the 5600 mHz ram seems to run OK at according CPU-Z 2400 mHz.

ADDED: Reported it to Gygabyte, response was they are looking into it.

Red about DDR5 problems on other sites too; seems to be the future though.
