Visual Update release to be delayed to Fall 2022

Since it has been made a talking point:

Due to a number of factors... slow response from Pimax on their VR headset issues, slow response from Simul re. compiling their latest trueSKY software, typical teething bugs with Speedtree 8.0/9.0... (trees appearing upside down with roots in the air... i.e. depth coordinate error ?)

So looks like we will not meet the Summer 2022 goal... but will be here hopefully early in the Fall.  (no guarantees)

Well if we all fly upside down, the tree issue won't be so bad? ?

Thanks for letting us know. Good luck getting all that fixed.

Good luck, final teething problems are unavoidable.

[It would have surpised me personally that there wouldn't have been these kind of last-minute issues, simply because of

the scope of the complete overhaul you are planning.]

Would always be a talking point for some of us as the hoped for deadline approached un-remarked. But this is all it takes really. A few lines to give the great unwashed a small insight. And it helps shut us up too which will cetainly delight at least half the regular antagonists!!

Given the external issues a Q4 release would be understandable and I hope you havnet set yourself for more of the same with the early fall (no promises) line. I dont think anyone here in the forums would especially delight in seeing TFS suffer further problems. Non of us want TFS to fail (if not for TFS for the game's sake). Most if not all would be understanding of delays of this nature. There is only really good that come out of honest posts like the one above.

Yes, again guys thanks for Team Fusions efforts.

Actually I think a more Christmas like buying period  for release would be better anyway.

One thing that concerns me a little is the performance. In the current version with a Ryzen 5600X and and RTX3080, the free flight france SP mission can acheive as little as 50 fps low over Le-Harve. This in in a relatively clear sky and at 1080P.

Even over less densely packed areas its around the 90 fps mark. Take a trip into the countryside and its in the 260fps ballpark. High and  Mid channel and its a silly 500 fps.  So the building models are serious hits still.

In GB, as a comparison, the minimum fps over a city like Dusseldorf is 160 even at tree top heght with maxed out settings in 1080P.

Thats quite a difference to consider for VR and 1440P/4K players al though Le-Harve was always a pig.

Will the visual update improve any of this?

Long time since setting up Clod. Far static shadows have a tremendous impact. Without them, all is where I'd expect it to be performance wise.

Thanks for the update.

Engaging with the community really helps temper expectation and the silence there was before this really didn't help.

Looking at the features needing to be fixed, it looks like there is still quite a way to go so hopefully the other developers step up their game and offer fixes for the issues you have highlighted.

Would it be possible to maybe update the community on a more regular basis and let us know how work is progressing, especially in the areas you have highlighted.

Thanks for the update again.

I had thought the plan was to allow for time to hype the Visual Update prior to release as was done for the TF 5.0 rollout. A few pre-release "exclusive" vids by YouTube gurus using Varjo Aero, HP G2 or latest Meta HMD could be helpful. That might be easier with a rollout during the TG/Xmas holidays so I am not sure an "early Fall" release is a better expectation to set. Either way let's hope the release comes to pass    ?

Hopefully these kinks are swiftly rectified :) Delay gives me a bit of time to finish my DIY throttle :P Best of luck to TFS!

Hi Boo,
Those are numbers i get on an old i7-920 OC 3.4  and a 1060 6G. (on London i drop to 36 when looking around).
I think you should get some advice from guys having the same kind of config as you do, maybe the best place would be to go visit Atag.
With the kind of HW you have, you should go above 100 on london when turning your head like a spinner and looking down.
There is something wrong with your settings.

Sorry for the OT.

Thanks for the update :) I kind-of figured it wouldn't be summer - especially after we reached the end of August ;)

Glad it is still being worked on though!

Hi, Yeah its been a while since I took a trip in CloD - the Far static shadows have quite an impact. Mirrors in a spit at 60ft over London isnt a great idea either. With both disabled Clod is where my hardware expectations say it should be and bang on your prediction. I think the game will still be the preserve of the higher to uber system for VR but thats par for flight sims.

(original post edited to reflect).

Thanks for the prompt!

Didn’t need the first sentence but other than that it’s a good update. I’m looking forward to experiencing CLoD in VR :)

I'm sorry and I appreciate your work, I'm looking forward to the changes. Too bad it's not possible to make updates for those players who don't use VR now. I'm sorry, it's not a jab or an insult just my opinion, but technically it's probably impossible. Otherwise, great work for the TFS team.

I think it's fair to say that Buzzsaw has accidentally let out of the bag the location/map/next expansion for TF V6 :scare:

Thanks for the update Buzzsaw, these things can't be helped.

All efforts are appreciated greatly, as we wouldn't have what we have today if abandoned.

I checked out Speedtree and trueSKY footage online today, (out of curiosity) and was pleasantly surprised.

Both should look amazing running in Blitz and Tobruk when the time is right for release.

Looking forward to it.

October is a just a few days away. I will be happy if the Update happens this year, but pre-empting questions via a monthly Show & Tell would definitely contribute to a positive atmosphere.

Not sure what stage they are at but some might have missed this from the Technical subsection :

Hopefully AM Dawson will hold for a week and again hopefully increased busyness by TFS is a good sign for the upcoming update. Not holding my breath here, but I hadn't seen that little snippet, so thanks MP.

If a "show & tell" is too much then text is fine, not for me because my timeline is for Visual Update before New Year 2023. Remember that there are those who follow the Steam forum. It helps to keep everyone in the info loop.
