Mysticpuma Posted August 27, 2022 Posted August 27, 2022 I wonder if I can interest anyone in what may be a challenging B-26 due to the tail? The 325th Fighter Group had a B-26 that they put the noseart "Ham Actor" on. The following image is an original I have of it, as you can see lots of details, including text on the undercarriage door (and musical notes), yellow tips on the propellers and Pilot and Crew Chief names: PILOT MAJ. H.H.GREEN CRE CHIEF: T/SGT. A.EAMES Of interest is H.H.Green was Herschel H. Green who was the top Fighter Ace for the 325th FG and the second-highest scoring Ace of the MTO. This image shows the aircraft before the noseart was added, clearly showing the Checkertail markings on the tail and rudder, the checkers were also on the Elevator. The Starboard side didn't have any noseart but it did have the text, sadly I only have a partial image showing its placement. From the images it can also be seen, she was a little 'war weary'! I appreciate you all have your own projects but I can only ask, cheers, Mysticpuma 1 1
SOLIDKREATE Posted August 28, 2022 Posted August 28, 2022 I'll take it. This will be a good warm up for me.

Can't find anything on the 325th BG or BS. The B-26 couldn't possibly be in a FS. I'm going to mess with your images in PS with the new neural filters so I can grab colors off of them.
Mysticpuma Posted August 29, 2022 Author Posted August 29, 2022 325th FG, The Checkertail Clan "borrowed" a B-26 and repainted it in the colours shown. They used it to transport goods, food, drink, officers around various locations. They painted the tail with a checker pattern and the artwork as seen above ? Regarding the colours I will send you an image showing the colours ? 1
Mysticpuma Posted August 29, 2022 Author Posted August 29, 2022 Yes, that is "Passionflower III" I have a close up of that noseart too? 1
SOLIDKREATE Posted August 29, 2022 Posted August 29, 2022 Yeah dude give me that one too. I'll make her as well. Also I notice they do not carry unit ID codes. Is this the way the B-26's were in a composite squadron?

The B-26 'owned' by the 325th, was reportedly war weary and not suitable for missions, so the 325th borrowed them before they got to the scrap heap. The markings you see are how they decided to paint their B-26 aircraft, I think they had three Passionflower aircraft, no idea what happened to the first as I have no pictures. This is Passionflower 2nd but I'll be honest, it doesn't look like a B-26?: Edited August 29, 2022 by Mysticpuma 1

SOLIDKREATE Posted August 30, 2022 Posted August 30, 2022 Hey thank you for laying out the colors of the nose art for 'Ham Actor'. It really helps a lot. Are you positive about the secondary bomb mission markings are light brown and not faded red. I ask because that is not a standard marking color for the 8th or 9th USAAF. Okay buddy thank you. I think I have ANA-603 andANA-613 nailed down pretty tight now.
SOLIDKREATE Posted August 30, 2022 Posted August 30, 2022 I've also seen white bomb marks and yellow bomb marks. Sometimes yellow will appear brown when using AI to restore photos.

Faded Red.....yes, I would go with that, sounds closer than my light brown ? 16 hours ago, Josp said: Hi Mysticpuma, I think Passionflower 2nd was some earlier version of B-25. My guess is B-25C. Josef Thanks, I was edging towards a B-25 but looking at it now, I am pretty sure you are correct, thank you.
SOLIDKREATE Posted August 30, 2022 Posted August 30, 2022 Did some Neural filtering in PS. Trying to get a lot of color fades for the drab paint. 2
Mysticpuma Posted September 12, 2022 Author Posted September 12, 2022 Hi Solidkreate, just checking in...how's it going?
Mysticpuma Posted October 8, 2022 Author Posted October 8, 2022 In the absence of any news, I am happy to report that Raptorattacker has kindly stepped up to the plate and created the B-26 "Ham Actor" for me. 9
