Gibe Posted August 24, 2022 Posted August 24, 2022 Su-152 against Tiger, distance 500 m 13 APHE – 3HE fired without incapacitating the Tiger or its crew, only perhaps the commander and the gun because it ends up rotating its turret and incapacitating my gunner and commander with its machine gun. However source Wikipedia “He is nicknamed “tawny of killer” because of his ability to destroy German Tiger I and Panther tanks. » "Still, one hit was enough to reduce a crew with the projectile's shock wave, despite the projectile having a low penetration value. » So, I wonder about the modeling of the damage?

Shoot HE either at the turret to blow out the hull roof or the tracks to blow out the sponson floor, otherwise HE won't do a thing. APHE on the other hand should not care at all, if your target is almost pointing staight towards you.
ShampooX Posted August 31, 2022 Posted August 31, 2022 In my game experience the SU 152 firing HE can kill a Tiger quite easily at any distance with a hit pretty much anywhere on the hull or turret. This is due to the massive size of the round and the charge it carries - I think it's pretty accurate as I've seen pics of Panthers with massive holes produced by the SU-152 round. The use of APHE by the SU-152 is affected by distance and usually not as effective as HE against a Tiger in the game. Sadly as far as the modeling in the current patch goes - HE of any caliber and distance can disable a Tiger gun - even from the T34 76. This is not possible in real life without a ton of luck. It's something the Devs need to return to the state of the prior patch. 1
MajorMagee Posted August 31, 2022 Posted August 31, 2022 (edited) Otto Carius was wounded when their cupola was hit, and it was torn clean off. Just by luck he had just leaned down into the turret to light a cigarette, or he would have been killed outright. (p. 133, Tigers In The Mud) His speculation was that they were hit by a colossal shell fired by an assault gun (SU-152?). Edited September 1, 2022 by MajorMagee
Wold Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 (edited) tiger(most of tanks with bad designed cupolas) have a lot of problems with cupola(tiger early cupola held in place only by 10 bolts, later by 15, and after that they redisigned cupola completely) , and there is no need in any "huge caliber" to torn it off Edited September 1, 2022 by Wold 1
MajorMagee Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 Their Tiger had been hit by a variety of other shells during previous operations. For some reason, he thought this one was particularly bigger than those, and described it as such. I suppose the difference just comes down to the perspective of an eye witness, versus the irrefutable logic of an engineer.
