Tip: Some programs crash using X.M.P. (to be set in BIOS, profile 1) with Corsair DDR5 ram, on my system with IL2,

that crashes direct or a few seconds after game start. My AORUS MB has a z690 intel chip.

Does it crash without XMP enabled? Does your particular motherboard support the speeds/amount of RAM you have? How many memory sticks are you using?

4x Corsair Vengeance DDR5 16GB 5200MHz. No crashes with X.M.P disabled, and freq set to auto.

After readingon various forums i think my MB bios, the latest, might have issues. Might also be Corsair related; it sees the memory as 4800MHz on auto.

Also after changing the XMP settings the MB needed a CMOS reset.

I have an MSI MPG Carbon WiFi and I can't get over 4800 with four sticks either, but it specifically states that in the specs.  If I only use two sticks, I get my advertised 6000 speeds.  Hoping BIOS updates fix that, but I'm not holding my breath, and I should have done more research.

Hi,

normally a program does not crash with active XMP. The reason for crashes is more likely that the memory, mainboard and CPU are not very compatible with each other, or that the memory is defective. The best way to test this is with Memtest86. I.e. activate XPM (Profile 1) in the BIOS and boot Memtest86 e.g. from a USB stick. Memtest86 should then do its four iterations. This takes about 3-4 hours with 32GB RAM and a modern system. Here you can also see immediately whether the CPU is sufficiently cooled. In the Memtest86, the maximum CPU temperature should not exceed 65 degrees Celsius. The lower the better. If the test ran without errors, you can assume that the RAM works with the set XMP profile.

Another thing to try is a motherboard BIOS update.

Greetings Markus

You should try with just 2 dimms. If that gets you 5200 in everything than you have the well known Z690 4 slot issue.

Then it might be normal 5200 works with 2, not with 4 where you only may get to 4800.
