SR603-Flowbee Posted August 24, 2022 Posted August 24, 2022 This is my somewhat loose and subjective impression of an Me410A1 that was suggested. I was actually doing another skin based on a profile by Claes Sundin when I got sucked into trying to figure out what this aircraft might have looked like. https://mega.nz/file/4hlSkJLY#wRJyM3OfRgube7bSWrflzCWi8qvuBc8Tx56cTVLvX_w 16 4 2
EAF19_Marsh Posted August 24, 2022 Posted August 24, 2022 I am a total amateur at this, but the contrast in the B&W pic together with other images both colour and binary together with the '43 date suggest to me that the lower fuselage would be more light blue than grey? The 109s and 190s at that time seem to have been a lot lighter between the wing and canopy. But I could be totally off on that. 1
SR603-Flowbee Posted August 24, 2022 Author Posted August 24, 2022 (edited) I agree with your thinking and that is why I used two shades of light blue from the ICDP colour chart for that reason. Best to see how it looks in the game. The only grey used was in the mottle and wing surface. The screen shots show different tones and then game preferences and monitor calibration play a part. I certainly had the right intention when I set out. But after applying loads of layers things do tend to darken down. I figured dirt would also have that effect in the real world. I might try a bit of added lightening in the future to get the correct effect. edit: You were spot on. I just checked the template and the light blue layer was accidentally set to blend using soft light which let the base grey layer show through. Turned that to normal and it made a really nice difference. Will tidy it up a bit tomorrow and put up an update. Thanks! ? Edited August 24, 2022 by SR603-Flowbee 1 1
EAF19_Marsh Posted August 24, 2022 Posted August 24, 2022 Random lucky guess on my part. I have d/l loads of your skins so thank you for your amazing work for all of us. 1
SR603-Flowbee Posted August 25, 2022 Author Posted August 25, 2022 (edited) Update of skin after fixing blending setting in blue layer... https://mega.nz/file/x49WgSya#_JVfcX_ZN6FrPYFSm8SBIKgYDBIHlMxTNMDAJJFQPFc Further update to fix some overspray and add more green which not only looks better but I've found further pictures suggesting that green mottle played a larger part alongside the violet grey. I also applied the green on top rather than under some of the weathering to show how the Germans modified their camo to reflect their current environment. If you haven't fallen asleep by now you will see what I mean if you try it out. Again monitor saturation also has a part and I am still playing the game with 3DVision (green/grey lenses). Interestingly only the new clouds aren't working 100%. https://mega.nz/file/k8cWBQiK#ArJFRm8lNHn2ZTkK6k23ezWrPOObbRgNM_so4vjIWL4 Edited August 26, 2022 by SR603-Flowbee 13 8 2
