Attacking with an Altitude Advantage

I don't know if this is a new problem, or one I hadn't noticed until recently.

I was flying with a flight of six 109Fs and we intercepted three PE2s on the deck. We were about 3000 meters. I circled down and pulled up under a Pe at about 600 knots. Slid into firing position and downed him. As I turned I saw another Pe smoking, followed by another 109F4. I also saw several smoking piles and assumed they were the other two Pes.

I checked the map view and I could see the other two Pes still alive, running northwest, but I saw only my plane and one other. So I cycled through the friendly plane view and that was it. Four of my flight hand flown into the ground!

I've seen this happen before on occasion, but never with four of five AI pilots diving into the ground. I know the dangers of diving too fast. Controls were stiff as I pulled up at 600 knots. But only one of the four was a novice. The other two had a kill or two and one guy had five.

Knots?  Bf 109s speed is measured in Kilometers per Hour.

PWCG. Sorry about the knots. I'm a naval historian. Should be KPH.

Yup, 600kts sounds like a more appropriate speed for a jet, and one with hydraulic controls at that (and even in modern ones, that's a little fast as far as diving goes). :) 600kph is a reasonable speed to pull out of a dive at in a 109.

Yeah, it has been happening for a while. My perception is that it has gotten a little better in recent patches, but the AI is still prone to lawn-darting.

Always attack from below.  This way they crash into the air.

There is a setting in PWCG advanced config where you can set the AI to save itself from, well, itself, i.e. they will only die if they get shot down

Hey, at least it isn't like that youtube video where the person hired to read the script saw Kts and read it as "Kilo-knots".
