Old Player - Updates

Hello, guys. Wish you are good.

 

I'm an old Player. Last update I took, was 1946. After of that, married and focused in other things, had no more time to play.

 

2 or 3 years ago, I bought the cliffs of dover, in steam tried to play in a limited computer, it was possible to play, but did not find where to meet all players.

 

In old times, we used to see the servers and players in Hyper Lobby.

 

My question is: Where are the players getting the battles currently? What is the current versions which you are playing? I supose it is Great Battles, but, I did not find this version to buy in Steam. Is possible to get this version through another way? Is it a mod?

-Great battle is the entire combination of modules. (Stalingrad, Kuban, Boddenplatte, Moscow…etc)

 

-If you buy from STEAM you must buy Stalingrad before you can buy any other expansion.
 

-You can also buy directly from the Great Battles team at the link above. You do not have to buy Stalingrad; if you buy it thru them. This is the best because all the $ goes to the team.

 

-You only need one module to play MP online. You will be able to play on all maps but only with the planes which are included in the module you purchased.

 

-All modules play with each other, you can only use the planes in the module you paid for. Everyone is playing all modules. I like playing with multiple planes from each module depending on the year of the battle in the servers.

 

-There are few servers which are popular. You can tell by how many people are on the multiplayer server. Most servers will have a DISCORD/teamspeak listed where you can coordinate with others. 
 

-Buy whichever Battle interest you the most. There are constant sales all year long. That’s when you can pick up the modules your not sure about at great prices (worth it!).

Great Battles is the blanket name for the series of stand-alone titles that can be merged as a single ecosystem; and all of the series' associated collector planes, vehicles and scripted campaigns. It's much like the old days when IL-2 Forgotten Battles could be played individually or with the Aces Expansion Pack and/or with Pacific Fighters; and Pacific Fighters could be played individually or merged with Forgotten Battles.

 

On Steam, start with Battle of Stalingrad, here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/307960/IL2_Sturmovik_Battle_of_Stalingrad/. On Steam this is the "core" game and everything else is a DLC expansion. You can also buy the "expansions" here at the il2sturmovik.com webstore and link your Steam account to the webstore to merge content to a single install.

 

Or, if you don't want Eastern Front material or WWII (just WWI or tanks) you can buy individual titles at the webstore: https://il2sturmovik.com/store/battle-of-normandy/. The Red titles are the Great Battles content. The Blue titles are the Cliffs of Dover Blitz series. They're separate game engines.

 

The important thing to know is that if you ever intend to use Steam as your gaming platform, buy Battle of Stalingrad from Steam. Everything else plugs into that regardless of where you purchase, as long as you have your accounts merged.

PS it seems far better to buy all IL2 stuff direct from the IL2 site, and NOT to use steam for it..

Cliffs of Dover and Il-2 battles are different games, made by different teams, both working now under the 1C umbrella. Cliffs of dover was made by the original Il-2 team, but outran it's budget and was abandoned right after release. It has been take over by a a team of enthusiasts from the community called "Team Fusion", and they made it a worthy game. They released a bunch of patches and even a paid expansion.

  Il-2 Battles series is the official new Il-2. After the Cliffs of dover was abandoned by the 1C developer, They signed a contract wit the Rise of flight team.

Il-2 battle of Stalingrad started as a WW2 game made on an improved version of the Rise of flight game engine. Since then it had a bunch of WW2, WW1 and even Tank addons. 

 You can buy Il-2 battles from the store on this site, that way the developers get all the money and you can start your collection with any "Il-2 Battle", it doesn't have to be Battle of Stalingrad, like on Steam. It's also easier to manage your games and patches that way.

 

 You missed the Summer Sale, but we have plenty sales here all year around. Usually every two-three months. IF you don't want to wait for the next sale to get into it, you can buy one Il-2 Battle now, to get you started and get everything else you want at the next sale.
