FTC_Riksen Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 F/L Jerry Billing joined the RAF as a volunteer during the Malta campaign in late 1942 where, despite not making any victory claims, he saw most action during his time in the war. He was assigned to the No. 401 Squadron 1944 at Biggin Hill after a short stint as instructor in the RAF. During his time with the 401st, Billing scored his first air victory against a Ju-88 and damaged two Fw-190s but was eventually shot down by flak on July 1st 1944 and forced to retire from the war.
