Lets talk about the newest types of mission in careers.

I have a few questions and observations about mission types that were implemented during the last year or so, in various updates

-bomb supply dump

I get this often in my 110 BOS career and I have no idea what I'm supposed to destroy exactly? Usually it happens near a village, I see like 3 or 4 bunches of AAA guns with searchlights and thats it? What's my target here? What are the supplies exactly? I'm missing something right?

-traffic interdiction

Again I see this mission type in my 110 once in a while and I've never seen any vehicle column? Where's the traffic? I reach the waypoint, nothing. A new target waypoint appears some 30 km's away, I go there, nothing again. Another waypoint, rince and repeat etc etc until I cross enemy aircrafts, jettison bombs and engage because I'm tired to look after phantom trucks. I've never been able to complete my objective in this mission type because the traffic is always m.i.a.

-escort transport planes.

I often get this one flying my Mc202 in BOM. It's cool to have missions to include the Ju52 in careers but unfortunately most of the times these escort missions are uneventful because russian interceptors like Mig3's are nowhere near. Also, it happened a couple of times that the rendez-vous point to meet the Ju52 was OUTSIDE the boundaries of the map to the south west...even then, who cares because the Ju52's werent even close to being there so what's the point sending us there?!

And one last question about transports, if the escort transport mission exists, do we also have the intercept transport planes mission? I have yet to see this one if it indeed exists.

In conclusion, while I'm happy new types of mission are being introduced to the dynamic campaigns, unfortunately I dont think these were thoroughly tested and are mostly bogus at this point. Devs should look into it and do adjustments in an incoming patch so these would actually be fun and eventful.

These are mission mostly design issues.

I imagine that the ammo dump is in a building somewhere, but what kind of building?  I guess you drop on something that  looks like a warehouse?  Still, the mission should manage to express intent, or you should at least be able to ask online what an ammo dump looks like (I honestly have no idea :) )

I think it's dull to just spawn trucks right in front of the player ..."Hello, I'm your target.  Come kill me".  However, the trucks should be around somewhere within a reasonable radius.  I think the correct thing to do is spawn them when the player is still BVR and get them moving to a location.  Since they're trucks they won't get all that far, but still far enough that the player has to hunt along roads to find them.

I don't think it's a big deal if an escort mission does not produce action, especially Ju=52s flying behind the lines.  I would expect them to produce more content for actual para drops or front line resupply missions.  Flying outside of map boundaries is a clear mission generation error.

For bomb supply dump:  Zoom in on your HQ map and look in what part of the city/woods the target is in.  They are usually barracks/warehouses, oil tanks etc.  Watch where your wingman bomb as sometimes they will hit the buildings instead of just the aa or trucks nearby.

Traffic interdiction:  I don't believe it is a vehicle column but just anything in the area.  For example, 1 truck or 1 car etc. near the waypoint.  The mission is to hunt anything rolling throughout your journey instead of fly to an area and hit 1 target.  Before you hit the start button, check the map.  There is a rectangle around your waypoint, this is the area to search in.

Also check the briefing. (mission tab next to specification). "Your task is to search for and destroy any kind of enemy ground targets you find, including transportation traffic, supply movements, any kind of vehicles, and related units.  You are free for action in and around zone area marked on your flight map."

Supply dump: I use the same method, 4 out of 5 times this works, the 5th was literally an empty field.  Role-playing, I chalked it up to faulty intelligence.

Traffic interdiction:  Still haven't gotten a handle on this one, as the traffic (Checking with the external view), is usually some 80Km away from your waypoints, but I discovered that bombing any static objects, such as an airfield, satisfy the mission requirements.

Haven't encountered transport missions yet.

If I may make a little but idiotic remark, if you a a "non" static "i.e. moving" objective in a mission please look everywhere for the objective not only on the point marked on your map! And it is why when such an objective is the objective of the mission I always do activate the markers that make the spotting of those vehicles more easy otherwise even trains can be a very hard target to spot. Even more so because most of the roads or railroads are in the time depicted by the game covered with trees... is this not cheating? ?

I prefer to have no markers or any other additions in the cockpit with me...  Not even technochat, but I do use padlock occasionally. This usually comes in handy when looking for ground vehicles. Don't forget that as part of the mission design, the convoy has probably been triggered to hide in the tree line when enemy aircraft are within a specified range

I wish they only did that when they were actually driving through a road surrounded by a forest; not do it regardless of where they are, as oftentimes it's simply a couple trees every 20 meters.
