C-47 silence?

Recommended Posts

Been a while since any major news about the C-47, feels like the pre-order was announced so long ago now. Can we realistically expect it soon? Thanks.

Probably not for a bit yet.

They've posted at least 2 progress reports/updates.

This has been no different than the development of any other map or aircraft.

Two whole progress reports since pre-order started 15 months ago? That's a stunning level of communication. NOT!

Well, I'm sorry if the Devs don't provide 5 Dev Diaries a week to satisfy your hunger for information. I'm sure the Devs haven't got anything better to do and can easily spend a couple of hours to do so without causing any further delays ?

(Soon to be on my ignore list along with the other Fanbois and forum Trolls.)

60 weeks X 5 updates a week = 300 updates. Yes, that exactly what I'm after.

I've never hesitated to pay up front for content. Check my badges, more pre-orders than you.

Then you know how this company operates.  Recent updates have been focused on Normandy and newly released planes.  The C-47, Siemens Schuckert, Snipe, StuG are all deeper in the pipeline.  If you have been here that long and you know how things work, why the snark?

You shouldn't get angry at the Devs for not providing enough updates. They have weekly Dev Diaries, which is more updates than you get in 99% of all other games. It's also the same policy they've maintained for the past couple of years, and you should know that if you have so many pre-orders.

You shouldn't get angry at me for bringing you the message.

If you feel the irresistible need to get angry at someone, you should get angry at yourself for pre-ordering the C-47 while knowing you'd dislike the Devs' update policy.

Ugra Media, the team who's making the C-47, is a 3rd party team so they're not going to be able to produce planes, let alone a plane or cockpit from scratch, as quickly as the devs can. Ugra is already making the FC2 airplanes, map, and to my knowledge are making projects for other games.

This is only the second time that Ugra has worked with the devs and only the second airplane, let alone cockpit, that they've made from scratch and the C-47 cockpit is much bigger and has more instruments, switches, levers and buttons than in the U-2VS. With everything I've mentioned, things are bound to take longer than normal; also, things going on in the world right now may have hampered them.

My guess is that the FC2 map is now the main priority as all of the planes have been released but we've seen very few screenshots of the map.

Is that the Cloyd of Boney and Cloyd fame?

I’ve yet to be disappointed in any pre-sells I’ve bought into. I haven’t purchased the last two tanks that are in the works. Almost everything else has been bought within a few days. The team hasn’t let me down yet.

Please tone it down to avoid "moderation"

It's flight model was lost, somehow ended up as the "P"-47, some difficulty in extraction and recovery.

I think there have actually been four or five times we've received news.

Yes... when the C-47 was announced there were still three or four aircraft left for BoN, plus updates on two WWI aircraft, two vehicles, another collector's aircraft, two maps, a campaign mode... it should be unsurprising that we can get a months worth of news and still have some things not touched on - it may not always feel like it, but they have a surprising amount in development.

The C-47 and Normandy map combo is going to be just about the best thing, or at least one of the best things to hit this sim so far in my humble opinion.

I'm also wondering whether they will announce an official release date for it or if it will just show up in a regular development update patch.

Again there’s plenty of history to reference.

Usually in most of the updates they mention that it's being worked on, along with the Stug and WW1 birds. So it's coming, just be patient. Third party aircraft always take a while.

Agree it will be so cool flying these in formation over Normandy!

Agreed :) I've had great fun with the Ju-52 on Finnish War server, but it feels weird flying it on the Allied side as a placeholder for the C-47 haha. Will be flying it for many hours the day it's out!

I think this is an important point - we'd like not be getting the IAR-80/81, the C-47/Li-2 and the WWI aircraft if it wasn't for the devs willing to let a third party do it and a third party being willing to do it. The fact that they are both willing to chance it is what is giving us a chance to have these aircraft in the game at all.

We need to accept that such relationships take longer to bear fruit and hope that they continue if we ever want to hope to fly an I-153 in Kuban or do artillery spotting in a Fw-189, a Mustang I over Dieppe etc.

I noticed in the career mode screenie in the Normandy update just now that the 301st Troop Carrier Squadron was on the list. Flyable Goon might be closer than you think.

That is quite the exciting and intriguing observation you made there!
