SU-152 Engine is almost totally silent at close distance

Today on Finnish I had an SU drive within 200m of me and all I could hear was his treads and wheels.  Almost no engine noise.  I have reported before that russian tank engines are difficult to hear at distances compared with german tanks at the same distance...but this was the ultimate proof seeing that SU so close with no real discernable engine noise to accompany it.
