GOA_Walter_Nowotny Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 Good afternoon editors: Today something very strange is happening to me with the Mission Editor. It is not saving the texts. It happened to me with a mission that I flew yesterday and everything was ok. Today I worked on some process aspects and I did not intervene or add any text, but when I recorded and entered the simulator, these had disappeared. I thought I might have made a mistake, but when I try adding a Translator Subtitle with text, when it is saved it is shown in the editor but in the simulator it disappears. The same thing happens with the description of the map. I really don't know what it is. Never in my 8 years of using the editor has this happened to me this weird issue. If someone could help me. I can not do any mission because the texts disappear when get into the the simulator. When reviewing the mission text files, these do not appear. It's all blank Thank you
JimTM Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 (edited) Please zip all of the files for your mission and post it here. Edited August 11, 2022 by JimTM

JimTM Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 (edited) You are not seeing any text because there is no text in any of the subtitle translators in the mission. Are you saying that you create some text in the editor but it does not show up in the mission? Also, I can see the mission description when I start your mission. Try this: 1. Close the editor and IL-2. 2. Delete file mtreecache.eng from game directory /data The file is recreated when you start IL-2, later on. 3. Open the editor, open your mission, and put some text in one or all of the subtitle translators. 4. Save the mission. 5. Check to see if your text shows up in GOA_Mis_3_Asedio_Rheine.spa (and in the other language files for your mission). 6. Start IL-2, run your mission, and check for the text. =X51=Astro_ Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 GOA_Walter, did you manage to fix your scenario? I have had the same thing happen to one of my scenarios. All text gone, didn't find a way to fix it (except revert to a backup of the scenario I had made the day before). I did find the cause though. I made the text for the main mission description in mission properties, in an html text editor (notepad++). This works a lot better than the small window of the ME. But I had used hard enters in the text. After copying this into the ME description field and running the scenario, all text in all icons and subtitle translators was gone. I am still using notepad++, just making very sure I am not using hard enters.

It helps to quickly find and debug any problems with the text markup, such as enters instead of the <br> tag, or misplaced end tags. I then paste the text into the Mission Editor rather than using notepad++, since the Editor will automatically remove newline characters. Edited August 21, 2022 by AEthelraedUnraed 1
