Flying_Colander Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 CAVEAT: Blue-Sky Brainstorming I got a new bit of kit with a feature I had never heard of before - - ARGB or Addressable RGB LEDs. These can be programmed to spin up whatever light show amuses you. My preference is to turn off all the bling inside the computer cases, on the motherboards and fans. However, if IL-2 could trigger the lights that could actually be interesting. Imagine a strike on your engine and your computer case starts flickering yellow and becomes a more saturated red as the fire grows. You dive, or hit the extinguisher, and the fire peters out only to flare up again unexpectedly. I have been petitioning IL-2 to output flak hits and flak bursts with the exported telemetry so bass shakers could output the effect. Now imagine your computer case flashing with each near miss. I propose all this as a programming ignoramus. I don't know if a computer game can hand shake with the goings-on controlled by the motherboard. But such an addition might just provide motivation for all the carnival baloney happening inside cases these days. Could any programmers comment? I've linked to some information on ARGB. If you'd like to add more fanciful tasks to the already busy IL-2 programmers you can pile on and agitate at the poll below. More flak now! Cheers, Flying Colander https://cybersided.com/rgb-vs-argb/
Skelthos Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 Not sure about your case lights, but some of the telemetry software used for bass shakers like Sim Racing Studio can activate LED strips based off data from games. Although I do use Sim Racing Studio I have not used the lighting features of the software.
Props Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 I am kind of passive about RGB in my case and just let the mobo run a basic lighting with no effects. But I always thought an option like you are thinking about could be cool. Most motherboard manufacturers include some kind of RGB program with their bloatware so you might want to check what's available for the board in your PC. There are also a number of addon cards and RGB controllers available out there and it seems to me that I have read about a couple that do interact with your system or sound card to produce these kinds of effects. I spend a fair amount of time skimming through a lot of PC gaming and hardware web pages for info on how to make my PC run better, but I can't remember off hand where and what equipment would do this for you. I suggest doing some web searches to see if there's anything out there that will work.
